£7.99 plus an extra £9.00 shipping to Australia. All that for one floppy disk...

I just made and ADF of my old floppy which does run on my A500 but suffers from the slowdowns and crackling. Not sure who cracked it as there is no cracktro or anything. I have attached it in case anyone wants to have a go with it.

Didn't Clenched do a crack?

Loads in AF but the sound is distorted and the pieces really are slow moving.

I just tried mine in WinUAE on default A500 OCS setting and it ran fine. I then ran it on a setting identical to my A500 with ECS agnus and it suffered from the crackling sound and severe slowdowns (same as my real A500).

Interesting.

Indeed...

...just made an .ADF out of the SPS file "Battle Chess (1988)(Interplay)[0263]" and it suffers from the exact same issue when using KS 1.2 / 1.3. Considering it was released in 1988

Now to try the SPS file "Battle Chess (1988)(Interplay)[a][2368]"

Made a blank adf in WinUAE.
Copied the files and bootblock from the IPF.
Installed the game to DH0:
Copied Battle Chess and Chesssaves, chessstuff from DH0: to DF0:
Game boots to protection screen.
Works after entering protection code.

Needs testing on real Amiga.

Bah; tried making an .ADF out of the IPF "Battle Chess (1988)(Interplay)[a][2368]" which is fine but when starting the same thing occurs...

As mentioned previously I use "Battle Chess (1988)(Interplay)[cr UA - WOW].adf" in WinUAE with a KS 3.1 ROM which works perfectly... and this looks identical to the alt IPF --> ADF I just made i.e. you also see the install icon along with the standard Battle Chess one.

Thing is; back in the day my A500 didn't have KS 3.1 (was certainly KS 1.3) and all worked fine with the "[cr UA - WOW].adf"...

The game boots fine so far. What is the protection code? The cracked versions didn't need one obviously.

OK I just managed to find a reference with the codes. The game works fine! Thanks! But so annoying that I have to look up the code each time I play now

Download the manual from Hol. The protection codes are at the back. they are games played by certain people in a certain year, you have to type in the code for black or white moves.

The save, load, function works O.K too.

Tried to do the same with the cracked version but the install to dh0: doesn't work and the disk becomes unreadable if you copy files to it!!

This crack works in AF, 1.3. Try it on your A500.
