more fuel for the pretty screenshot bonfire

http://hol.abime.net/894/screenshot Note the outdoor swamp areas (screenshot no.14), I believe copper shading was used in the background and foreground graphics to add extra detail. Another favourite of mine (nice music too) is Leander http://hol.abime.net/850/screenshot There's no doubt that copper was overused, and I wonder if it would be more difficult to name Amiga games that didn't use the copper trick? ![]() |

Oops, sorry dude
![]() ![]() Has anyone mentioned Brian the Lion (non AGA version)? http://hol.abime.net/207/screenshot Does anyone else here prefer the OCS/ECS versions over their AGA counterparts because of their reliance on the copper trick? I prefer the original Fire & Ice for this reason (there is too much stuff in the background of the AGA/CD32 version IMHO, and chip music beats CD audio any day). ![]() compare this http://hol.abime.net/547/screenshot with this http://hol.abime.net/548/screenshot |

Oh yes
![]() ![]() Oh and about the Fire & Ice ECS/AGA version difference : There are pro's and con's on both, but I would also vote for the ECS version ![]() |

The best game that uses gradient colors is without any doubt Hired guns, simply because it is the best game of all times for any platform (and uses gradient).

You know, I actually despise plain gradient backgrounds. Give me something like the first level of Lionheart if you're going to use the copper.
Anyway, back on topic: James Pond II |

Soccer Kid made some amazing use. If I recall, it was actually an 8-colour game - the rest was done with copper gradients and dithering.

Amiga will never die!
|
Soccer Kid used dual-playfield mode with two 8-colour playfields (although each one had a transparent colour so it was more like 7 + 7) plus the copper bars in the background.
