Ok, thanks everyone for help; especially Kin Hell !

I purchased and got proper active adapter from Romania,
and I got my HP hard drive detected eventually !
However, I think I'm a little disappointed because of the
relatively low file access speed of the drive.
SysInfo gives only about 2/3 of the speed of my old Fujitsu drive.
I used Phase5 Scsi configuration tools to manage the speed
settings etc. The handshake is of lower value !?
Any ways to get more out of my new drive, in terms of performance (speed) ?!
I thought it should be as fast, or even faster than my old drive;
which doesn't seem to be the case (!?).

Glad you got sorted eventually & sorry to hear you feel disappointed with the performance.

At best, the Fastlane can only manage 7 MB/s asynchronous and 10 MB/s synchronous transfer speeds, less overheads.

However, the overheads on the SCSI bus will still give you far superior performance over IDE overheads using hard drives, CF etc.

It's what SCSI was all about. - Less impact on your CPU.
