It should already work on 68000 machines. What happens? Does it crash? If so, I might have an idea what's causing it and can easily fix it.

Test attached slave, it's untested but should now work on 68000.

There is a graphic bug in the sprites after some plays, tested in real A1200/030.I think this bug has already existed in the old Lamer install version 1.0 so Championship Edition slave won't have this bug I think...

Never happened on my 68060. Can you give me a step by step description how to reproduce this bug? And what exactly happens? Sprites are completely trashed?

I've played three or four plays and I've saved five replay goals, after that my players have a long black line over their heads. The bug persists until you exit the game by pressing F10.I will try to take a picture to show it.

Ah that bug. Yes, I know that one. It never bothered me too much though. I may have a look at it later but won't spend too much time on it.

just one question as i'm a bit curious , what was making so hard to do this patch and which idea came to you to make it possible ?
It is just to know as it has been a game hard to patch!!

Well, major problem was that the game has been programmed in C, i.e. a compiler produced the code and not a human. This makes it much harder to understand the code than handcrafted assembly code, which is usually very easy to understand.
Problem was that the loader had quite a few parameters and was/is not that easy to follow, thanks to the fact that it is compiled code. So a long time I didn't really have a clue WHAT actually caused this bug.

Then, when I was working on a different patch two days ago and got bored of it because it didn't work as expected, I decided to have a look at Goal! again. And then I just tried different things for the disk change patches because I wanted to nail down where the bug actually happens. So while analyzing the code in ReSource for what felt like the millionth time I encountered a "suspicious" routine, checked what exactly it was doing, had a "heureka" moment and well, rest is history. It has been a long way to go , LOTS of hours spent debugging the code. No fun at all as you can imagine.

Well, I don't mind hard to do patches, in fact I quite like a challenge now and then, easy to do patches usually bore me. In the case of Goal! it was quite different though, as I really didn't have a clue what was causing this bug I had to spend countless hours debugging the code. And this bug has been annoying me ever since I made my first Goal! patch so many years ago now... Luckily, it is one of my favorite games, otherwise I would have given up long ago. That Mr. Larmer, who was a VERY good patcher couldn't do it speaks volumes I think. I'm quite happy that it is finally finished and will plague me no more!

Thanks for testing. I will create the install package now so after more than 13 years an updated Goal! patch should appear on the WHDLoad site soon! My early present this year for all Goal! fans.
