Mortville Manor - that cool intro tune with the guy on a loop crooning "Mortville Manor"

Batman The Movie - "who are you??? I'm Batman" music

Sierra Soccer - "corner / free kick"

APB = Chief mumbles "well done" and "I'll confess" when shaking the suspect by the neck

Hare Raising Havoc - One of the best Amiga introductions filled with speech

Robocop - Tinny speech, nothing like the movie - not sampled - sure it was a programmers own voice (sounds English) reading the directives - Speccy speech was better!

The Simpsons - Bart vs the Space Mutants - intro speech

Merv the Merciless - Neighbours samples song

Fright Night - intro speech "welcome to Fright Night"

Ghostbusters 2 - title song

Narc - "you're busted"

The Running Man - intro speech

As another poster said - need a full list on opening post

I don't know but it is too bad that the full game isn't available in WHD format.

whdownload.com seems to have a download for it though? Is that not the full game?

Updated the list - I've included most things, although I weeded out a few things for just being shouts and grunts (or just intro tunes) - that's not really sampled speech SFX to me.

Hope that helps! Sorry it took a while, I've been out of commission for a bit.

Maybe put those on a "does not apply" list or else people might keep listing them.

Ah who am I kidding, we're already on page 3 so people aren't going to be looking at the original post anymore.

True, Blood Money has some samples in the music but that's about it I think.

I gave Denaris and Blood Money some leeway for having a speech sample before the music came in at the start of the game (same as Turrican I with "Welcome to Turrican" being the only real sample there). I can't swear to it being a sample or part of the music, but I made a call. Although if you grab the mod for the Blood Money opening, it's only the "Blood Money" bit which is part of the mod.

Don't know if that qualifies for the list, but Llamatron features a quite funny sample.

When you die at just a few enemies left, the game plays a sample shouting "Oh fff". And when you enter a certain 4-letter swear word "F..." into the Highscore List the next time the sample won't be cut-off but played in full length adding "...UCK!".

The ST version of Blood Money only has the "first, there was Menace" speech, not the full intro, which makes me think it's a separate bit of speech. Ironically, on the ST Blood Money is about as impressive as horizontally scrolling shooters get, but the association with Menace was probably off-putting, as their version was so lazy and shoddy to look at (though it plays much the same as on the Amiga).

It's a pretty small one, but in Settlers when you give an order, you get a "yep", a geologist will say "woohoo" when he finds something, and you get an "awww" when you burn down a building.

Roadkill has samples for weapon alerts and so on, and TFX has sampled radio communications.

If we go a little bit later, lots more games qualify - Foundation (unit acknowledgements), Descent: Freespace (lots of spoken dialogue), Earth: 2140 (unit acknowledgements), Exodus: The Last War (unit acknowledgements), Wipeout 2097 (which incidentally has speech sampled from the Amiga's narrator, in a full-circle situation).
