Congratulations, spudje. I have the exact same model. What do you think makes the Amiga a better product?

My impression is, that the X68000 is more of a PC kind of thing in terms of Bios (switch) / (D)OS (Human) / lack of autoconfig etc. with the addition of an awesome custom chipset that makes it the best 68k games machine. Also I took a short look at SX & Ko Windows and it wasn't even close to AmigaOS/Workbench.

The Amiga is just way more polished with all its autoconfig beauty and very smart (for its time) OS. And apart from the let's say top 50 great X68000 games, a lot of games are really sub par on the X68000.

Nice!!! Does it work out of the box with the BenQ. I didn't get it to work consistently (only some games), so I got an OSSC to put in between (and add some scanlines ).

I was expecting 15khz to work with my dell 2001fp (Amiga and Acorn and Atari 15khz work ok with it) but I get no signal. 31khz is fine, as expected. I’ll get another ossc to bridge the gap at some point. Most games seem to be either 31 or can be toggled from 15 to 31 so it’s not an issue at the moment

in fact, do you know that the TTL driving the signal on the X68000 is the culprit ?

I plan to replace mine and socket it.

For all you guys with both systems, do you mind taking a nice picture of both systems side by side with a clean background for wallpapers? It would be Epic for us fans of both systems. Thank you ahead.

We gotta convince some homebrew nihonjin coder to port AROS 68k on it and then that machine will fly

AROS doesn't use the custom chipset, does it? And does it rely on chip vs fast RAM?

It would be awesome but I guess it will be a huge challenge. An Atari ST port would already exist if M68k cross porting was easy.

AROS being developed first on PC did use a RTG for display like Cybergraphics and is my opinion that, considered the x68000 is tiled based, should work reasonably well once a HIDD is coded; about RAM that is a different beast, been a while that was doing dailies testing i seems to remember in the PC did not separate the two.

More than for Amiga emulation i would see AROS on the x68k to provide a frontend as alternative of the native one - with preemptive multitasking - and also the AROS API and subsystems, then if someone want to code bridges to use x68k software via AROS why not?

Atari users have the already excellent multiTOS MiNT and i assume "by principle" they might not want any amiga stuff :P

While I agree with this.... isn't like this with the Amiga too? The Amiga also has a lot of sub par games.

Said that, at least the Amiga has lots of good original games. Go beyond the "arcade perfect ports" on the X68000 and you won't find that many good gamed indeed.

But its library is huge.
