Ive chacked your file and it works! ive compressed and attached.
-Its not quite just the compression Im not sure why but the picture has a big footer of zeros once converted to RAW this isnt hard to get rid of I just use a HEX editor and take them out. Then use RNC Pro Pack from aminet. PPAMI p d -o -m 2 Stage7.DAT |

I´m going to improve the original SSF2 backgrounds.
Things like gradients, anti-alias, pixel cleanup... Here are two test pictures: |

*edit* nevermind, read the whole post.. But isn't it better to grab from the SNES version, instead of mame?

@viddi: Pardon me blindness there, but I seem to miss ANY difference of those pictures (despite the bigger area of the modified picture)

Wow, I thought those pixels simple were emulation errors, not the actual game.
Looks like someone did a quick and dirty jitter conversion with the original graphics. |

There is definitely room for improvements.
Just an example: The fighter bomber looks much better now. I really must say that Freestyle did a bad job. There are countless wrong pixels...(E.g. the the blond hair) |

@viddi: LOL, I see! I see!
Now that you pointed those, I see your changes... *Damn stupid blurring of the current 3D only textured games* Made me forget how cool retro pixelart looks... |

Thanks! I´ll try your stage later today when I´m back home. I checked your iff-stages. I found out that at least two stages have incorrect palettes: Please compare: original pics: http://www.lemonamiga.com/?game_id=3043 and... palm / pavilion --------------------------------------- street |

Make sure not to anti-alias the edges of the backgrounds to white, try and remember the copper colours that are behind them in the game.
