Any HD above 127Gb is useless on Amigas.

They all (even those 300Gb monsters) work with Toni's fixed/patched SCSI.device, but only allow 127Gb use with OS3.9 or the patched FFS (TD64) version 45.xx (53?).

Patched FFS works on any Amiga with ks37350 and above. Not sure if works with ks versions under 37300.

Hello friend.
1. You where quite correct, on this particular board the Buddha IDE only works in the no2 slot. Thanks for the advise. I had the GVP8+HD sitting in the second slot. So you were quite correct.
2. Yes I found out the hard way, the Buddha adapter only sees 127 GB. It does not matter how big the actual drives are. This does not matter as I have plenty of 80 and 120 GB drives from my older PC,s.
3. One thing I noticed it does not see any of my CF cards. The cards with their adapters work very well in the IDE channels of my A600 and A1200 machines but are not at all recognized by the Buddha adapter. Ok I have enough room in the A2000 box.
3. Another problem showed up with the A2000. My VXL-30 Accelerator locks the A2000 up solidly. The card works very well in an A500, but the A2000 simply does not like it.

Well thats the interesting part of the Amigas. Many unexplained problems to be solved. Thats probably why I am interested to play with them. It is also very good entertainment for me. I am now 71 years old, will be 72 in early September. My wife is most of the time overseas looking after her aging father. For me it keeps the brain working and keeps me young. HA HA HA
Ok thanks for your help again.

The Buddha is a bitch when concerning CF disks.

For the VXL problem, maybe you can gopher a bit with the A2000 fixes for other accelerators, like the Magnum 40/4, Fusion Forty and Apollo 2040/60.

Anyway, he's recently finished his project and announced at amiga.org. I quickly purchased one board from him and my parcel from Suomi arrived today.

I just tried it and I'm glad to say it works great As far as I understand, the board emulates a gayle chip, so you're getting some A600 functionality for your A500. You probably need a kickstart > 37.350 for this board to work (I just tried with 3.1 and 2.04 (37.175) which naturally didn't work.). I installed a fresh 3.1 workbench and installed IDE-FIX. Then mounted a CD-Rom drive as slave and it worked just like on a A600

The only catch with this hardware is it needs to fetch some signals from the expansion slot. It's quite easy really, as signal exist side by side (pins 17 and 19 of expansion slot)

I will invite him to EAB too so we can discuss with him about other projects An internal A500 board with 8 mb fast ram ? Btw, this project also based on a Xilinx CPLD.

Gotta love Finland. They gave us WinUAE, Blizkick, Linux, Lordi and now this

Blast from the past!

Does anyone know what the current status is on this? I've been to the website and there's no contact info. I remember buying one of these a few years ago, but I never installed it. Just never got around to it.

Would like to see if he is still selling these and get an updated version.

Is there a way to make an IDE/8 Meg ram expansion that can plug into a trapdoor slot of an A500? The problem I potentially see is if you already have a 68000 iggyback board, then adding this would limmit spce under the hood.

There are 1.8MB 'fake' fastram boards for the trapdoor. With that and an internal IDE interface you could at least run some memory-hungry programs, even if the IDE performance would be slower than real fast (I guess).

Maybe someone will make a cute little 'internal sidecar' fastram board. That would be neat

For IDE to work, i.e. ECS Gayle emulation, it would require connections to the CPU and possibly expansion slot not available on the trapdoor slot.
