What accelerator do you have?
I can try some of the games you mention in my setup. I noticed slowdowns but in games like Zool 2 which are known to have problems with accelerators.

..meaning, that if these doesn't slow down, I have a problem with my fast ram/accelerator?
Probably not technically, maybe a WHDLoad/turbo card issue. Worth a shot.

Check out my signature for my setup.
It's a 68030 Power Computing Accelerator, 16MB RAM

Especially SWIV, Bonanza Bros, Paradroid 90 and The Chaos Engine are slow, but only when there's a bit of activity on the screen (meaning, at times they are completely fluid like when playing from floppies)...

Thanks for helping..

Sorry, I turned signatures off because they re annoying.
I'll check out these 4 games you mention right away, and will post back in some minutes. Ok?

Just to be sure, these are the WHDLoad install versions I have, which I think are the latest ones;

SWIV_v1.5_0038
BonanzaBros_v1.0_0859
Paradroid90_v0401.1_1MB_0692
ChaosEngine_v1.2_AGA_1324
ChaosEngine_v1.2_0106 (you didn't specify if AGA or ECS Chaos Engine so I will try both)

These are the same I use, except I have Chaos Engine ECS and CD32, both have quite remarkable frameratedrops at a little north from start point Level 1, when using the "Molotovcocktail" (best way to quickly check framerate)

SWIV:
Game seems ok? Scroll is jerky and some times there are slowdowns but I take it this is just a crap game :P

Bonanza Bros:
Played the first level, seemed OK to me. There's a slight slowdown when the zepelin appears in the intro screen but I remember this happening in my A600.

Paradroid'90:
Seems OK to me too. I haven't played this off floppy in a while.

Chaos Engine ECS:
Runs smooth as baby ass

Chaos Engine AGA:
Smooth! TheMolotov cocktail did a fantastic explosion and no slowdown in both versions.

Apocalypse:
I remember this one having slowdowns in my A600 and it seems to play exactly the same way.

It would help maybe if you upload a video but it seems like you are having unusual slowdowns. I would say it's some incompatibility with your particular accelerator? Couldn't tell. Will try to load Apocalypse on diskettes because it's the one with the heaviest slowdowns.

Maybe Blitter Waits?
Not a solution but maybe try the old Mr.Larmer WHDload install for SWIV I think 1.41 had a bug - so pre 1.41
Bonanza Bros - JST and just normal Chaos Engine CD32 HD
Paradroid 90 cr Angels might work from HD

I don't think the solution would be trying JST or normal installs, but getting WHDLoad to run fine in his computer. We all know WHDLoad is the supreme, cleanest HD installer out there and it's a pity someone can't run it.

I never heard of this Power Computing accelerator myself, but it may have something that the installs don't like. You never know.

Its just that it might work ok from HD and maybe give clues to the problem for example the old SWIV install probably doesnt have blitter waits.

But your right WHDload is great and ive never heard of the Power Computing accelerator

I am sorry Anders old chap, my disk drive is just acting up as usual and am unable to write an ADF to disk.
From what I saw, I repeat, it seems to be working fine for me.

That's alright.. Thanks for trying

I've just made a YouTube video showing my A1200 playing a couple of games.
Before you break out in a "that's not slowing down at all, you fool!!" I will conclude that the frameratedrops are maybe something I feel more than something I can actually show - it doesn't seem that bad on screen, I guess..

I hope you can see what I mean:

I m afraid all those you show look like what I had except maybe Chaos Engine.
( For the record, the video doesn't really show the actual framerate, try to record with a camera that does 720p at 50 or 60hz)

SWIV is a shitty old game and I suppose it just runs like that.

Slowdowns like those in Yo! Joe happen even in the floppy version. That game was FULL of slowdown shit. Also Apocalypse, just very unoptimized garbage going on.

As mentioned by Boo, some games had issues like that with faster Amigas and they are related to blitter waits. Unless someone fixes that in the game when they make an install (which I heard is a daunting task), you will get these slowdowns on accelerated Amigas. One would assume a faster Amiga would make things faster, but it is not always the case.

It's like when you switch some games from 50 to 60hz, there should be a speed increase as logic would tell you, however the way it works is that it actually makes the Amiga rite data in places it shouldn't and create a delay, causing the games to actually run slower or with slowdowns when in 60Hz mode instead of 50Hz. Other games do accelerate by this VBL frequency increase ut it all depends on how the game is coded (Example: Lemmings 1 slows down on 60 Hz but Lemmings 2 speeds up)

I'd stop worrying about these issues and enjoy the games, from the ones I tested it was hardly anything that would destroy playability and, in cases like Yo! Joe, I remember getting used to the retarded slowdowns while playing it, back then, in my A600 off floppy.

slowdowns are true for chaos engine and for swiv
not true for yoi yoe...the music slowdown also from floppy
also not true for shadow of the beast

not tested the others

I just re-red the first page of this thread, I knew somewhere I had read a technical explanation of this problem and it is right here and explained by JOTD.

There's nothing you can do with this and it's really not that serious. If you are really bothered you can play the disk versions, but personally I rather die in slowmotion world than to touch a floppy again (read above moaning about my disk drive :P), or maybe it is time for you to buy one of those excellent SD card floppy disk emulators.

Well, thanks very much for taking a peek on these games for me.
I guess I'd have to try living with the slowdowns..

Does the SD-card floppy disk emulators work exactly like floppies without the.. floppiness?

Guess I ought to check it out.

personally I cant see it but if you run Paradroid 90 Cr angels or whatever from HD without startup-sequence or ChaosEngine CD32 I cant see any reason these would run any different
Edit: than from floppy or CD on your setup - Hope you get it sorted

How do I run these without startup sequence? Tooltype options? Sorry if this is a stupid question..

Akira> The HxC sd card floppy thing directly replaces the floppies, right? Meaning, that all the games that didn't run on A1200 from floppy and only on A500, still won't work on an A1200, correct?

If you download Paradroid 90 Cr angels.adf - copy file Paradroid from the disk/adf to your HD
Reboot holding down both mouse buttons Chip Type=ECS Boot without startup-sequence
Type Path/Paradroid
