Could you tell us something about that build-in joystick? And why 128?

@DH
WTF is this? Never seen this before. Does it have any method of getting data into it without using the keyboard?

@s2325

The built in joystick, if I remember right, just used the membrane the keyboard used, it was OK but not great. It was good for whizzing the cursor around the screen though

128 cause it had 128k of memory there was another one called the 64 obviously for the same reasons

@TCD

You plugged a cassette tape into it, a bit like the ZX81, Spectrum, C64 etc.etc. And it had a Rom bay, so if you were able to get any games on rom you could use that. Frankly, I didn't really use it that much 'cause there was nothing to get for it over here as it collapsed almost as soon as it started.

Check it out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enterprise_128

RETRO or what

Afraid not, the first repair worked for a while but went Phffffzzzzz again and the IC that was needed was not available anymore, well, not from where I was working. I must admit, I wish I still had it though, cause it was quite good and it had an awesome display resolution in interlace, but I cannot remember the size anymore.

You could also flip the function key display thing over, to a new set of functions to use, even your own ones too, so long as you remembered to reprogramme the keys to your settings

The tech specs sound quite nice indeed. A resolution of 672×256 pixel with 256 colors is not that bad for 1984/85 Guess it was quite pricey for it's time and that is why it was a dead born machine.

Just read a bit further and it looks like you can get an emu for the PC http://ep128emu.enterpriseforever.org/
It must have some kind of following other than in Hungary

It's strange the emu site doesn't have any links to any software maybe if we look at the Hungarian Enterprise 128 forums, we may be able to decipher some links to some software or we could just try the English forums

I can't wait to here, it'll be interesting for me too, as I never really got anything for it, not even the box that it was supposed to be in. All the leads, books 'n' stuff were there but in a carrier bag.

That logo brings back real memories for me. It was at a time where the Spectrum had ceased to work 'n' I was saving up for a C64 so this little gem filled the gap nicely

Well, I downloaded the emu, but it's for 'UHU' (whatever that means ). Haven't looked further into the matter I must admit. Maybe someone knows how to get that thingy working in Windows

'UHU' I think it's for Linux (of course it could be that glue ) , still I don't know what it actually is. Maybe it's a secondary program for Linux that is needed for the Enterprise 128 emu to work on. Doesn't look like 'UHU' has anything to do with Windows, unless you need to glue some parts back together
