Dedication and patience. If you didn't have at least one of the two, you probably had a bad time playing games on the Amiga Rage quitters, steer clear.

There exists a version with an automap.

Easier to have these things when you are a kid. But as an adult, it is difficult to find time for a good Amiga session. YMMV, but personally I rarely have the luxury of one more than once a week so, when I do, I don't want this session to feel like work, because I have already forgotten the spell runes (apart from the fireball :P) or the various items/mechanics/map layouts/etc.

@meynaf
Is there an Amiga version with an automap???

You don't need to, we don't live in the 90's anymore. Even if I play for only 15 minutes in a week, that is enough to satisfy the nostalgia bug.

That's exactly my point, mate. I don't want to spend the better part of these precious 15 minutes gathering the various docs on runes/potions/items/maps BEFORE actually playing the game. And I definitely need these materials, because I cannot play DM more than weekly, so I tend to forget all this stuff and need to look it up again.

@meynaf
Sweet, that must be the ultimate DM version!

I really loved playing Dungeon Master and Chaos Strikes Back! I'm still going through the whole DM from time to time, usually during my vacations In CSB, there was a room I could never enter ; it was marked "Death row". But after 30 years, I found a solution to get in on the Internet. I was so happy that I made a video of it: [ Show youtube player ]

And then you discover that the game is actually good and keep playing because you're having fun.

Use meynaf's version of the game. It has a nice auto map. As for spells and potions: http://dmweb.free.fr/?q=node/195

[OT] As well as on the PC "Lands of Lore : The throne of chaos". Westwood did great games on Amiga, sad they didn't do an Amiga port of this one... [/OT]

Because there was no money to be made at that point.

The top link on that thread (which I assume is the one you are talking about with automap) just leads to a 404 error for me.

The first link after edit should be the same as the original link. A bit weird why meynaf left the first link in the post though.

I don't like editing old posts so i added some "edit" block at the end.
If after that people don't read, not my fault.

Might not be a bad idea to make an exception.

As it should be, but it probably doesn't apply to keeping links up to date.
