It must be my configuration thats wrong. Can you post your config and I'll see if it works on my machine. The new executable 020 version should show this AmigaDOS screen as it boots. |

You should boot the game from AmigaDOS like my HDF version does and you will then know for definite that you are running the patched version. That AmigaDOS screen appears when you load the game from AmigaDOS and even then only shows for a split second. It took me a few attempts to catch what it was saying. lol. If you have a fast PC you might not have seen it. Oh, guess what. I finally got the 020 patched version working!!! Its pretty good although it seems a little slower on my system. It definitely seems to be more stable and a lot less buggy as well which is good. What did I find out? Well for some reason this patched version does not like fast RAM. Weird or what? If I add normal fast RAM or even Z3 fast RAM I get the graphic corruption that was in my screenshot. I removed all the fast RAM from my configuration and just ran with 2MB of chip RAM. It worked ok but soon ran out of memory when I tried to play the actual game. So I then tried bumping the chip RAM upto 4MB and it worked absolutely beautifully!! What RAM configuration are you using frikilokooo? I've updated and uploaded version 3 of my TFX HDF file to the zone. It now boots straight into TFX using the 68020 patched version with all the graphic effects turned on. It looks and plays fantastic! Enjoy again! Last edited by Steve; 05 October 2007 at 19:01. |

Some info:
The archive "tfx.020" or "tfx.030" has to be renamed "TFX.FPU" and to replace to the original one, only one of these archives! The archives "TFX","TFX.OLD","TFX.FLOPPY" are not used by the game, can be deleted. The archive "tfx.strip" would have to be renamed "TFX.040" and replace the original one but I have not been able to make it work... The game patched doesn`t work with fastmemory in WinUAE like Steve said. I will prove it in my a1200... Thank you Steve |

Ok, I've made the necassary changes to the HDF. You'll find version 4 in the zone. Is anyone actually bothering to download these??
So in the new version I have renamed TFX to TFX.FPU which should hopefully allow the game to run in Workbench as well as AmigaDOS. Although due to the fast RAM bug I think running from Workbench is fairly pointless. Still better to run TFX from AmigaDOS. In the main directory you will find these files: TFX.FPU - This is the main executable for the game. Overwrite this file with the version you wish to test. Currently this is the same as TFX.020. TFX.020 - The patched 68020 FPU version TFX.030 - The patched 68030 FPU version TFX.040 - The patched 68040 FPU version TFX.FPU.OLD - The original 68020 FPU version. This works with fast RAM. These four executable files are backups and should not be renamed or deleted. If you wish to test one of them using the HDF then simply copy the version you wish to test as TFX.FPU, overwriting the old TFX.FPU file. Remember that the patched executables don't like fast RAM. Have fun! Last edited by Steve; 06 October 2007 at 02:27. |

Then type something like this: Assign did: "DH0:Games/TFX" Then once the game is assigned type: CD "DH0:Games/TFX" TFX.020 Or whatever you have called your patched 020 executable. This should load the patched version. You may still not have enough RAM once you try to fly a mission which is what I found out on WinUAE. How did the programmer manage to create a patched file that doesn't like fast RAM. It doesn't make any sense. |

Version 5 (FINAL) is now in the zone.
Now contains a few of the various executable files: TFX.OLD - The original 68020 version (works with Fast RAM) TFX.FPU - The original 68020+FPU version (works with Fast RAM) TFX.020 - The patched 68020 FPU version (tested and works) TFX.030 - The patched 68030 FPU version (tested and failed to work) TFX.040 - The patched 68040 FPU version (tested and failed to work) The HDF also has a detailed list of information about the patches and getting them to work well using WinUAE. For a TFX playing guide and hints and tips check out these issues of CU Amiga magazine: October 1997 http://amr.abime.net/issue_656 November 1997 http://amr.abime.net/issue_657 December 1997 http://amr.abime.net/issue_658 I've tested all the keys which are described in those issues. They are all documented in detail on the HDF file. I'll post them here as well. I recommend that you use these settings in WinUAE: CPU: 68020 + JIT + FPU (68881 or 68882) + Fastest Possible Speed Chipset: AGA ROM: Kickstart 3.0 RAM: 8MB Chip RAM (very important - do not use Fast RAM) DO NOT USE FAST RAM IN YOUR WINUAE CONFIGURATION FILE! This should be the final version so I hope you all enjoy it. |
