Might be worth asking the following if they want any :
Anthony Hoffman, Jean-jacques Boulet, Michael Boehmer and perhaps even Jens Schoenfeld Plus the people over at a1k.org, amiga.org, amigaworld.net I don't suppose they said what the price-break amount was? (i.e. how many you need to buy for a discount) |

Why bother to source 200 pin CPU slot connectors when emulation.com has already developed a small 68060 to 68040 adapter PCB which plugs into the A3640 CPU socket?
The problem is that the price they are selling these for amounts to highway robbery! So the solution is to develope our own low cost adapter PCB. P.S. If you think my A3640 speedup hacks are to complicated or to difficult to do than your definately biting off more than you can chew on this project! Dusting up the old thread. Could the TransWarpEngine adapter be used in the A3640?

It seems worth experimenting with. Are the schematics for it available anywhere?

The schematic is available on the a1k.org thread but the 060 will be crippled by the original A3640 state machine logic since my request for a simple clock circuit modification has been ignored:

It may be crippled but it would nevertheless be more compatible than the 040.

Heh, I'm all for an adapter that adds a 060 and Fast RAM to an 3640.

(a bit off topic) Regarding KEL connectors, I've got a quotation from local distributor, around $10 per piece with minimal quantity 21 pcs and dropping to around $8 with quantities over 500. The worst part is the timing, they claim 6 weeks for manufacturing at KEL and 3 more weeks to deliver.

@tnt23
If you ever end up ordering the connectors, let me know. I could have a use for some. |

I have been looking into a homebrew 040 <--> 060 adapter and it looks pretty interesting! I was wondering, would it be compatible with an 040 Macintosh system? Has anyone tried? I know there are some patches that would be required to get a fully working system, but I am trying to figure out if at least the electrical incompatibilities are worked-out with the adapter created by mozart at a1k.org?

Many thanks to my good friend SuperCosmos (and thanks to matthey also) for the 060 adapter and Rev. 1 CPU!!!
![]() ![]() After many hours of work (and some hair pulling, head scratching and saying a few 4 letter words) I finally got the adapter working! ![]() First, was the hardware fix (getting my A3640 back to 25 MHz) and that was the relatively easy part. Then adding the PCLK skew compensation mod (again relatively easy). Next, building a new Kickstart ROM compatible with the 060. Should have been relatively easy but very difficult due to some corrupt files in my Remus build directory. (Also, complicated a bit by the 2 separate 040 and 060 exec.library's needed). ![]() Anyway, the end result is in A3660.png (for you curiosity seekers). |
