shame, the speach on the pc version was hilerious and really helped you understand the game more, although at the time my a500 version ran alot faster than the pc version on my 2x cdrom.

Yeah, I remember feeling quite cheated by BASK as Simon the Sorceror DID have speech and quite good it was too.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but...
Beneath a Steel Sky CD32 did have speech. Pretty much everybody spoke, from important characters to incidental ones. I remember you had a little robot buddy, who was most sarcastic. All very hammy and fun.
Just thought I'd clear that up. |

Some great games mentioned. I think the ones that had best use on my Amiga's were(in no order):
UFO - enemy unknown Pirates Swos Speedball 2 (or joystick buster as i remember it!) Space crusade(with 2players very fun) Heimdall(1+2) Transplant(fun!) Chaos engine Realms of Arkania(i only played it on a 1200 but i think it was 500 compatable?) Frontier F-19 stealthfighter Hunter(very cool, way ahead of it's time maybe?) IK+ Geof Crammonds F1 grandprix Eye of the Beholder 1+2 Ishar 1+2 Dune 1(slighty odd but kinda atmospheric)+2 (makes C+C look like a kids game) I know there are many more but my memmory fails me! I know the pc has some great games but i'd be hard pressed to put a list out like the one above. Real classics with real playability and challange. And still hot when i play them now. |

For me it would be Gods, which I was obsessed with for so long. But other titles which sucked me in big time were Speedball 2, Chaos Engine, It Came From the Desert and Wings. Yes, very big time wasters, but it was worth it.

My favorites on the 500 would certainly have to include:
Shadow of the Beast 1 Lemmings Both were great games, but one that nobody else has mentioned (unless I missed it) was Empire by Interstel. I don't know why, but once I started a game, I usually found myself getting obsessed with it to the point that I often found myself suddenly realizing that I'd been playing till 4 a.m. or so. Nothing spectacular at all in the graphics or sound, but I always found the gameplay to be addictive. Not long ago I started it up with WinUAE again for the first time in a long time, and found that it still can keep me up till the wee hours just as easily as it always did long ago. |

The most addictive game I ever played on the A500 was a UBI release called ZOMBI
I must have played this game time and time again, I believe it was based on the film "Dawn of the Dead " |

On the A500, the game i played most was probably Lemmings or Defender of the Crown...
On the A1200, the one would have been Frontier - Elite 2. EOTB was also a biggie... there was soooo many games i played on the Amiga, more than i can remember now!!! |

Games
I used to play a lot of Populous. The best part was playing mutli-player via my 1200bps modem with a friend - who was probably 30 years older than me but really cool. The great thing about living in Canada is that all local calls in the city are free (besides the monthly fee) so I could play multi-player games forever and hang around on local BBSs without worrying about racking up a huge telephone bill. I felt sorry for Europeans! (Though they were lucky in getting the latest games first, being the epicentre of the Scene and all.)
Another game I played a lot was Grand Prix Circuit (F1GP) by Geof Crammond. I think it only got about 10FPS on an A500 but it was a heck of a lot of fun, even though I never won any races due to the difficulty. And the best control was with the keyboard. |

Best game for me on the old A500 would have to be a toss up between Pirates, Moonstone and the Eye of the Beholder series.
There was that many good games that its hard to pick but they would have to be two that I remember spending many an hour (mostly drunken) playing. |
