After a quick cycle through the wallpapers, which one do you prefer?

These are just quick examples I threw together. I'll work more on the appearance once a default wallpaper is selected.

All look good now I've managed to remove the icon text field (thanks burseg ), but my favourite is the first one as it displays the icon text clearly without changing its default black colour.

Are you sure you want to use those icons?
Glowicons Revolution looks much better.

It’s a big job getting all the icons changed and I’ve already done three different icon versions for real Amiga’s! Like I mentioned in the first post, this is just a quick port of those versions, rather than an AIAB eye candy offering with all the trimmings. I'm not really interested in doing a P96 "upgrading to the max" workbench 3 like AIAB.

Are those icons Newicon friendly, or OS3.5+ only?

I may improve it further, but if people want eye candy, visual prefs, start-menus, other non-classic workbench stuff, then they already have AIAB.

GI Rev. needs powericons. It's just an exe that should run at startup but adds png icon support.

Ok Burseg, thanks for the info. I have to admit the icons are very impressive.

What if you extended the lighter grey up in order to accommodate 2 rows of icons? The other wallpapers have colours extending up on the left hand side, so it would stay with the theme.

Three votes for the first one, two for the second and one for the forth. Perhaps I should run a vote thread. Once a base wallpaper has been selected, I'll alter all the other colours (windows, popup menu colour etc) in order to blend in.

What happens when you change the icon text color to white?

It's still hard to read, but now on the lighter parts of the wallpaper. I don't want to use a text field as it looks ugly.

It's fine this way.
But I'll check it if you decide to use this one.

I'll use the first one - it looks pretty awesome when the menu's and windows have been changed to match. It's my favourite, has the most votes and saves me hassling you anymore!

Fisken you've messed up the vote system! Everyone likes different wallpapers!

I'm still going to include all of Burseg's fine work, so a few clicks and any of you can use whichever one you want.

In fact you already have the current P96 package Fisk; just download 3&4 and install/colour-coordinate things yourself.

With the new lighter background I've been experimenting with different colours on the windows and popup menu. After playing around, I decided simply to lighten the grey and darken the blue. Other colours look a little OTT to me.

Still open to any suggestions.

You can try to use Outline or Shadow in Scalos/Prefs/Icons.

I think you're totally right to keep a "basic" WB that don't need to much CPU ressource. Ppl can update it later.
Personally i add Picasso96 as it speed up a lot display on my old P200.
BTW from what i read in Powericons.readme, it's heavy CPU ressource eating !

Keep up the good work !
