btw guys, I just finished translating Georgs user's guide from German to English, I have asked him whether he is ok with that and once I get a "go" on it I will have some of you native English speakers (who are also well versed in electronics) to proof read it before the final edition will be available to everyone

@TheCorfiot:

I'm only waiting for Georg's "GO" once he tells me he's ok with it I'll send it for proof reading and later on make it available in the zone and somewhere for Amiga.org users as well

EDIT: Check your PM box

Hi,

I didn't notice before, but the design needs the Amber chip, which seems I have to take it from an A3000. Is it possible to get it from some dealer or something ?
If not, I think I can't get the mobo ready and running as I have no A3000 :/

There are places that sell Amber chips, they cost about 20-40 us$ google is your friend
btw, afaik setting up the flicker fixer part of the motherboard is optional, but I'd have to confirm that with Georg (I'll pm him).

Georg has just confirmed to me that the Flicker Fixer and the HD Controller are optional parts of the motherboard that do not have to be built for the board to work.

EDIT: If building the board without Flicker Fixer no special measures have to be made.

If you build the board without the HD controller you have to change the Auto config chain, this can be done connecting pin 9 and 16 in the socket for IC 19 with a 10R resistor.

I am in the middle of finding out whether it is possible for us to make (small) donations to Georg.
I for one think he deserves a small donation from everyone who will be building the board he designed

Update on the User's guide...

The English version of the User's guide for the GB A1000 motherboard will, among other things, contain a Component List (in English) plus information on which files need to be programmed in the GAL chips and where to obtain the files. The guide will also explain what to do if you do not build the optional flicker fixer part and/or the optional IDE controller part as well as a pinout of the A1000 PSU, in case you will use the board somewhere else than in an A1000 case .

EDIT: The guide is currently being proof read and will hopefully be ready for you guys some time in the coming week

Ok guys, I'm making a small change to the procedure. As soon as I have the cost for each pcb I will send invoices for that amount alone. After this I will start finding shipping costs for each and everyone of you, and if you prefer a certain shipping method/company let me know

I have just investigated PayPal fees. I have recently moved from Denmark to the US and my PayPal account is still linked to Denmark. Therefore there is a fee of 6.4% + $0.50 on the transactions. I estimate the pcbs to cost $60, but unfortunately to cover the PayPal fees you'll probably have to pay $65 then... you can calculate the fee here: http://ppcalc.com/

Sorry about this but I don't think I should take a hit on the PayPal fees

@Kristian95

strange, I have never had to pay any conversion fees, but still the PayPal fee itself is a stinging wasp just waiting to strike

best you can do really is to round up, even if its by a buck or two., if you wind up with owt left over, you can help some out with postage that really need it etc.

I will suggest that grouping international postage might be an idea, should that 10 units going to the UK, as opposed to paying 10 individual hits from the US to the UK, it might be better to send to one in the UK, with them distributing it to the intended target... it most likely would work out a fair bit cheaper so could be worth a look. (also less work on your behalf)

one thing that normally forgets to be mentioned on postage.... atleast for us prisoners of the UK, when sending an item, please declare it as GIFT as opposed to anything else... as there will be a nice $20 handling charge slapped on top+ customs charge. yes... there evil.....

anyway.... just food for thought.

I don't mind shipping all UK boards to the 4 people in the UK ordering it to one person.
Here is a summary of the locations people ordered from:

USA: 13 ppl +2 pick up +me
UK: 4 ppl
Norway: 4 ppl
Sweden: 2 ppl
Netherlands: 1 person
Japan: 1 person
Finland: 1 person
France: 1 person
Germany: 1 person

Total: 30

Would it make sense to send all European pcbs to one person?

EDIT: I will send all boards marked "gift"

Smaller packs tend to get thru customs with no further inspection / tax. Keep the value under around 15 GBP and we won't have to pay tax (at 17.5%) and handling fee (last time I paid it, this was 13 quid!)

@Chiark

I suppose my friend it depends on whats declared, my wife recieves a care package from the states from time to time... (being that i got me one of them american imports ) now these care pakages can get quite big (like a box the size of a 22" TV), its mainly food she misses, but i wont turn Stove Top Stuffing down for no man!!!!

Anyway... never had to pay tax / duty or handling charge.... as its labeled GIFT I have done business with other business that declare their goods as Surplus and i have not paid tax on that.

However, when i bought a Scan doubler flicker fixer from a fello forum chummie, as it was just labled with the cost of the item i was charged £13 for the privaledge.

so weather a big box or little ones, please mark them as surplus components or gift...

ok, being labelled as gift, what about the value I put on the package? If you guys want it to be insured you will need me to put the proper value on the package, chances are we'll get above £15 with 1 board already.
