Well I don't know who the fucking trojan horse was but now my system i sa wreck.

I tried to "fix" it but the amount of files damaged is too huge, and VirusChecker not dumping a report of what it found (stupid program! It should LOG!), has led me to a non working amiga system with strange, VERY strange behaviours.

So I am off to spend the day fixing this problem, installing everything from SCRATCH.
Time to remember all I had, make a dump of the libs dir, dload everything off aminet (better not have fkn virus!!!!), etc...

Oh joy
I should have left the virus in LOL!

Well I started doing the install from scratch.
After checking out for 1 minute the appaling bloatedness of AmigaSYS, I decided to do an install from zero on my own, installing all what i htink is necesaary.

Kind of makes me want to go back to my A600 WB project... maybe some day

I've had it installed for three-and-a-half years and never had a single problem... might check it just to be on the safe side though

Files on Aminet are virus-free. There were a couple cases in the past where infected files had been uploaded to the site but were quickly taken down (a YAM trojan comes to mind). HDInstallTools has been on Aminet for over eight years, you think someone would notice

Yeah that one's scratched from the list.. As I said, it seems the virus has been there for YEARS and I just -recently- installed HDInstTools.

The first batch of demos and games I got from varied sources. One of them must have had virus.

That makes me think - what is the best virus checker for the native Miggy?

Well Virus Checker seemed to have helped me a damn lot.
VirusZ seems newer but it needs some GUI libraries which I don't have. Virus Checker only uses gtlayout which I do have since it's fairly common, so I'd recommend it
Since it works with the external xvs.library virus brain file, I guess it's pretty up to date.

It really is a matter of personal taste since they use the same brain file --xvs.library. So as long the libraray is up to date they do a similar (the same?) job.

Check out Virus Help Denmark's Amiga section to find a one that suits your preferences

I use Mill btw.

Something's going VERY wrong in my system and I will have to reformat all drives just in case. I can't trust a single file in there. I am worried, I just hope it's not a problem with the Amiga itself
