does anyone know if AmiTCP can still be registered, or should that be added to the keyring site as well?

Its also, about, if the ability to purchase Amitcp still is available, and if the authors find out about the keyring site, would they approve of, disapprove of or take the site owner to court.

Which is why e-mails and all last contact addresses are chased up BEFORE any file is added to the site.

Sure the fact is we would ALL like to have a flourishing Amiga software scene where it was possible to register the very programmes we need to use for net or other extended applications & where ever possible the links are re-established to ensure the owner or author can STILL recieve payment .

This is the classic dilema of having to regularly check to see if some NEW company has purchased development rights or has decided to play the "litigation fishing game " without knowing what they just bought .

So by NO means is this a closed or dead archive site ...thats why its important to LISTEN to any new developments or alternatively double check as is often the case with gaming software to see if any retro retailers have re-introduced distribution.

A crap shoot it may be, but the alternative is a LOT of long term un-useable software & a Amiga community feeling totally abandoned ......anyway if the shit hits the fan I will just produce my death certificate .......they can't sue a corpse ....well not yet anyway

Now to answer the AmiTCP question specifically there is a long term problem as the Vapourware collection of pieces of individual software have been broken up across a number of international registery addresses .

This in itself makes a difficult case as it has too many loose ends that has had Lopos2000 pulling his hair out with each new twist & turn so it is unlikley that these will be added in the near future...UNLESS there is an UNEQUIVICAL donnation of ALL these apps to the Amiga community.

I can't see it eiether .....but maybe thats because xmas has aleady gone

AmiTCP is faster and has a smaller memory footprint than Miami. Hell of a lot harder to set up, though.

Thats an understatement

But in all seriousness, Can Miami be scripted to automatically activate TCP and log into a network without user intervention ?... can AmiTCP ? Its been a while since i used it last.

I had no end of trouble with AmiTCP v3.something demo. But once I tried AmiTCP v4.0 demo (from Aminet) it was pretty smooth sailing. I found some extra help from a user on this forum and AmiTCP just worked for me with no real issues.

@whiteb:

To start AmiTCP you type startnet. That line is often found at the AmiTCP portion of your S:User-Startup.

But if you feel like it, you can ofcourse do the stuff the startnet script does for you manually .
