Hi, was just about to get one from CU_Amiga but if you can test one for me that would be excellent.

Btw I still need to send those RAM sticks to you, I forgot about it ages ago. A pair of 16mb or 32mb sticks i cant remeber.

i completely missed this thread, you have designed a very cool project there! if i wouldn't be worse than a monkey with tools (i like to use them, but usually i leave craters behind me) i would be tempted to tinker my broken A1200... great job mate!

@marco
Look on the bright side if its broke tinkering cant hurt that much, and you could end up with an awesome A1200.
Davids' Isopon P38 easy sand can work miracles, all those craters can be filled.
Go on you know it makes sense

Project A600+ : Update

so the system has been running a little while now and yes there have been sevearl NASTY bugs that have had to be delt with (there still a couple of anoying ones too)

1. OS3.5 problems
after being on for a bit it takes up way to much ram, doesn`t free the memory properly, load issues start to arrise and is generally to larger footprint to have on only 4mb ram machine (2chip/2fast).

Strange errors hanging the system when:
opening screen mode changer
attempting to load the installer command

Rem:
I removed the OS3.5 and installed OS3.1 instead, this however required a few more libraries and an installer update to get other programs to work.
Solved oversized foot print.
boot times drastically reduced
no crash or hangup when opening screen mode
Installer 433 works fine when called.

2. IDEfix97 isssues
after installing this for the umpeenth time and promptly watching the amiga fail to boot i discovered the problem that by adding IDEfix and ActivateCrossIDE thingy in startup was hanging the system (although it didn`t do this in OS3.5)

Rem:
I removed these from the startup-sequence and user-startup, the system both boots and mounts the dvdrom very nicely indeed

3. Game issues
Now that i have really got time with the little beastie something are quite apparent. Any game thats 2MB or more seems to hang the system, like hired guns. sometimes a game will load past an intro screen and then just hang OR throw you back to WB with a message (illeagal exception fault). Missing Kickstart patches for WHDLoad (namely A34005.a500 rom)

Rem:
Need to hitup KG for some data , if i find a 4mb pcmcia sram card i will try that too... tripple tested setting with winuae and winuae will load games the a600 wont, even though the settings are identical.

as an adjunt I have a few JST installs these seem to work fine though for the few installs i have on there. *spanking speed ball earlier*

------------------------------------------

A600 now runs Os3.1 with a rudementary workbench (really need to talk to bloodwych about this)

In my A600 (KS3.1, 2MB, 1GB HDD) WB3.1 is slow as hell to operate due to sluggishness of the 68000.. I just wish I could find an accelerator for it somewhere.. (preferably in finland or europe..) eBay sucks in this context though.. Too much hassle.

Edit: Or maybe I just should settle on WB2.1 and leave it at that. Then get a A1200 somewhere and expand it because expansions for it are more common here..
