Fair enough. I just feel he misses out on some characteristic TFMX/Paula sounds, replacing them with boring 'modern' ones - Akira was spot-on here. We can safely share this:

(Is there a way to embed YouTube videos on EAB?)

Surely a matter of taste. It's a "real" (enhanced) soundtrack from scratch, based on the original chip tunes. If you can't stand it your are not in the target audience. I'm afraid that you won't like the other tracks too.

Yeah I saw the video update and I got to say it sounds exactly as I expected it: wrong.
I never, ever heard a videogame re-arrange version that sounds at least as good as the original. Part of what the original compositions were made of were the instruments that were used. Replacing them yields to something shitty. It's just generally a bad idea.

If he went and sampled exactly what he used back then or tried to replicate meticulously the exact same sound design but with newer technology, that would be something very interesting, that would sound great and ultimately be worth the hefty sum that is being amassed by help of backers.

In the end, these sort of tracks are not enhanced, rather hurt, by additions. Who says they needed anything extra?
I would prefer hearing an all out crazy remix than a re-arrangement.

Why not. If you are not 100% married with the chip music. I prefer Hülsbecks Jim Power PC-Engine CD Soundtrack over the original Amiga music. There are also some great FM-Towns re-arrangements from several Arcarde ports too.

I've just listened to the first track from the Album released 2 days ago and I don't think it's half bad. It had goose bumps going in the first few moments.

The first few moments are indeed brilliant... the rest is the problem! It does feel a little better after a few repeated listens, but it remains a very conventional remix.

the 2007 CD Chris released via SynSoniq for me is more true to the original.

Actually it's a CD from 1993. Maybe closer to the original, but not the complete soundtrack. It's a collection of Turrican 1-3 tracks. And it sounds "thin".
