Except that you didn't do any trick at all. You are just talking.

You *have* to show some code one day or another. We have a challenge, remember. Why not now ?
Not doing so means you've lost the challenge. Failure to show proof of winning equals losing.
Sorry, but i have run out of patience. Your code is supposed to be working at least for that.
How long must I torture you to finally get something ?
Will we get anything at all ?

Sure, and I haven't broken any rules so far, and I will win by complying with all requests.
You just have to be patient.

It's not clear to me, however, what will happen if I succeed.
Will you eat your bowler hat?

You have broken one rule, by attempting to move the goalposts.
Again, the challenge has nothing to do with an intro.
Your refusal to show what you're supposed to be having - remember, you told before that this part was done and actually works - doesn't help either.
Enough is enough, so congratulations : you've just lost.

It is too late for that.
It will remain a fail, regardless if you end up showing something or not.
This challenge without an explicit lose condition at your side wasn't very fair anyway.

I didn't move anything, I just decided to use my code as I please.
Winning the challenge and making it an intro can coincide (since there was no time deadline).

You are serious?

The condition of defeat would be the heaviest existing: I would lose face.

You can do an intro if you want, on top of what you agreed to do before. It is unimportant. It can't change what the challenge was about.

We have no arbiter so who decides when you have lost anyway ?
Everyone here can see that you did not show what you were supposed to, despite having been asked many times.
Good appetite for your hat.

Sadly, yes. You have lost.
But we can do another challenge - this time with a clear deadline. It could even be your intro.

You won't lose face by just admitting that you couldn't do something.
Note that the sine wave is a better achievement than what has been made before. Still, not enough for being of any practical use...

Sorry Phil, but for now nothing won and nothing lost this challenge. You are too be impatient. You want to see code now. Meanwhile better think how this is possible and try to create own code. I trust ross.

I would say that there are many arbiter, all those who are reading this thread.

Few lines which explains my choice and is the basis of (my) Amiga thinking.
There's a (great) Revision 2023 demo that sums it up: Cycle-Op (Leonard/Oxygene).
it's the 'try to beat dis' philosophy.

For me Amiga has always been 'magia e fantasia', so being able to do something 'technically impossible on a limited machine' is what still keeps me here coding.
If you take away the possibility of 'making something' from a routine you have taken away my passion.

Impatient ? How long must I wait ? 50 years ?
I used to trust ross too. But now...
Creating own code, good idea but remember my view is that copper audio is bad solution. I guess i could write cpu to audxdat code that preloads big 44.1 wave to fastmem and plays it, but this is just too easy.

None was in the agreement we had. Perhaps another issue to fix next time.

Telling "I will" isn't enough. Many people say this and don't actually do anything.

This is completely irrelevant. You can of course do whatever you want with your routine !
You told before that this part actually works.
But you show nothing.
This is a failure.
There has to be some loss condition, right ?

If you didn't agree for the deadline it is hard to demand one now. If something works then it works, no matter when.

It is not a deadline. He said he had something working and refused to show it.
And we didn't agree on the intro either.

But anyway, nice challenge we have : if i trust everyone here, it becomes simply impossible to win for me !
How fair your are, nice people.

What? The challenge was set for ross without any deadline. If he can do, he wins. If he can't, he doesn't. Don't see where 'trust' is an issue here.

Don't you see that it then becomes impossible for him to lose ?

Well, if in fact if the deadline were infinity you'd be right
But as I said, it's a matter of a few months at the most (and if possible a couple at most, I also have to reconcile my life times).

That's why I was talking about 'losing face' earlier.
I certainly didn't mean about failing, that would be normal and acceptable.
I was talking about saying I could do/I had done something and in fact that's not true.
How could I come back here to write?

Currently it is infinity as none has been agreed...

But if you want to change that, well, why not - for the next challenge.
One month for a simple proof of concept is reasonable time IMO.
Actually, a quite big one especially knowing your usual delays.
Now, you're saying "a few months". Might seem ok, but what will you say after these few months have elapsed and you still can't show anything ?

Well, saying that you could do something and then saying you missed a detail so at the end you can't, isn't a big issue. So many things can go wrong when coding ! That would only show honesty.
However, saying that you have really done something and in fact that's not true, is a much bigger problem. It is outright lying. But you don't do that, right ?

So what ? You were half successful and strongly believed you would reach the end, but something's gone wrong ? Is it that dramatic ?

I already answered this too: I said I will present the current state of affairs, whatever it is.
And if I don't do it for whatever reason, someone else in possession of the current state will.
One could quibble about what "few months" means. Well, we're definitely not talking about years, not even one

You couldn't be more out of the way here

But now let's stop, it's my last day of vacation and I have to write some code

Phil, you waited only 1 month. In Amiga world this is nothing. You are super fast coder, but not all coders are fast. And You dont set deadline for this challenge. Then You must wait. How long? Minimum 3 months (in total) maximum 1 year (in total).
