A bit of both.

While 1200/600 are the preferred among classics because of accelerator/indivision/hdd, WinUAE (thanks Toni) is practical for preparing CFs or for a quick look at something fetched from the internet (mostly intros and demos).

I like also FPGA such as Minimig, FPGArcade and Myst. The last one is the FleaFPGA.

I only use emulation for what emulation excels at; checking things while at a café.

Do I get extra points for using real floppies instead of a Gotek or WHDload?

Real Hardware.
and real Floppies, cheers Marchie =)

WinUAE is great - thanks Toni! - and often very useful.
But then I love to run the software on the real thing. One of my main motivations is to repair hardware (if possible), keep it in fine condition or tune it a bit.

2017: A500, A600
2018: A500, A600+HD, A1200+HD+1220 or BC1208

Real hardware only for me.

A few days ago I tried out that UAE thingy. Didn't work because it needed a kickstart ROM, which I would have to either buy or extract from my A1200. At that point I lost interest - why bother wrestling with PC crap when I have real hardware?

1987: A1000
1991: A3000
1992: A600
1993: A1200

Sadly, due to various reasons (theft, needing money, stupidity) I only have the A1200 today. But if I could have only one Amiga the A1200 would be it.

Real hardware.

UAE is a fine tool to help create media for real hardware, virus scan, etc. but does zero for the nostalgia fix had when using actual hardware.

If not for the nostalgia, why?

Real HW for now. Once I no longer have the need to attach any physical expansions or interfaces to the computer, then it might be time to go 100% emulation.
