Anyway joystick rant ON! (you should have asked in the Joysticks thread)
The Maverick is a good joystick, but it's not fair to compare it to a TAC-2. It's not a HAND HELD joystick, so you have to use it differently.

As much as arcade sticks are usually better than hand held counterparts in build, components and general responsiveness, you need to be able and willing to use it put on a surface in front of your screen. Not everyone has the space or likes to do that. Then it GREATLY depends on how the suction pads adhere to your surface. This makes or break the experience in this kinda joystick. If it has no suction pads at all (Amigakit joystick) then forget about this mode of operation, you gotta place it on your lap then.

I found with most of these good joysticks that the suction cups were just not good enough and your joystick ends up wobbling left and right and actually sliding during intense gameplay and it's really bad. In the video you can see that the joystick tilts with the push of the stick, because it's laying on soft suction cups, and this is also movement you don't want, it subtracts precision from the movement.

I think a lot of people then opt to use these on their lap (look at pro Street Fighter players) but then again that isn't comfortable to me and I feel like it's sub-optimal. Arcade controls are meant to be stuck to a structure that doesn't move an inch when you operate them!

So yeah in theory it is a nice joystick, but I never really felt arcade joysticks because of the reasons said above, and in this video you link I guess the dude who destroyed the A600 feels the same way although he cannot put it to words.

In the end is quite a bit of a personal thing. But buying a joystick without testing it first is usually a bad idea unless you are willing to flog them around.

That's a great video, that's why I linked it, but not mine. I only make crapy ones

Thanks Akira. I also use some joysticks with suction caps and I also like some.

Are there more of those available?

Looks like a very interesting beast, possibly something I'd like to hack or graft onto a Turbo Arcade.

Bought a ROCCAT Ryos MK FX mechanical keyboard today. Also ordered a AOC 4k Freesync monitor today and a Sapphire Radeon RX580 8Gb video card the other day. Can't wait till they all arrive!

Not from this seller. He told me:
"Yo me he quedado con dos.
Son muy cómodos y versátiles si tienes varias maquinas."

"I've taken two for me.
They are very comfortable and versatile if you've got several machines."

I know that the Quickshot Maverick 1 has/adds a nice feature so you can use one joystick for example with your C64 and connect it to both joysticks ports and then you can select which one you want to use. It also looks to me like it's the largest joystick I've had and it could feel just like if you were playing in a vintage arcade machine.

It adds some features never seen, like the chance to change among different systems:
A) ATARI / COMMODORE
B) MSX
C) AMSTRAD
D) SEGA

I would like to know how good this joystick is compared to a TAC-2 or other nice joysticks out there. I would also like to know if any modification is recomended as I've seen some posts about using micro switches in some known good joysticks.

Please remember that I've just bought it, I don't have it yet. I just saw it, NOS (box not so new) and the price was cheap (16€). I had seen it in the past and I liked it (I'm almost sure it was our friend fitzsteve using it years ago). I wonder now for example how it compares to the Arcade Evolution Amiga Joystick by Amigakit.
Thanks for sharing my video
I've always been a huge fan of arcade sticks, so I absolutely love my Maverick 1. Can't compare directly with other, let's say, more traditional joysticks 'cause this is the only one I have right now, but I can say that it's way better than the cr@py one I had back in the day! And the suction cups are of high quality that really holds the device in place providing really precise movement and control.
Thanks again to everyone that took the time to watch my video.
Cheers.

Today I bought...

An Amiga 500+

My very first Amiga after years of emulation. Feels good to actually see and use the real hardware! I took it apart today an cleaned her up real good, and of course removed the RTC battery and the resulting leakage. Test for continuity, and no broken traces! Phew!

Amiga OSXL - in box. This would be my second real Amithlon CD. Unfortunately just like the previous one I bought, no QNX CD.

Amiga OSXL/Amithlon CD, registration card, Licensing statement sheet, small Amiga XL sticker and box.

Other than that...a Fractal Audio AX8 pedal board.

A sd2iec. I've got three different working real floppy drives versions (1541, 1541-II, 1581), but well... I've bought this model from Spain just because it looks better and it's cheaper at the same time. BTW, he offers but he doesn't show a label with the colours bar that I've asked him for.

I just need some fast way to access files while I'm for example using the FM-YAM in the cartridge expansion port.

And also I've added myself to the list of people awaiting for a new batch of the FM-YAM: http://www.xentax.com/

Went to a boot fair today.
Picked up a Commodore 64 with datasette and 2 x 1541 5.25 floppy drives for £30. No cables. Motherboard & Keyboard look clean.

Never used a c64 back in the day so this will be a nice project for me.

I assumed I could power this from my bench supply. Nope. Need 5v DC & 9v AC.
Guess it's time to order some parts! DIN socket, 9v mains transformer, 5v switch mode supply.

sd2iec looks good. Might have to come back with some questions!

Last weekend I bought a C64 with datasette & 2 (huge!) 1541 5.25 inch floppy drives for £30 at a boot fair. No cables at all though.
Built a power supply with a 5v 2 amp module and a 9v AC transformer. It works

Still needs a case, switch and some fuses. I'm thinking a junction box from Screwfix might be a good candidate.

I've no way of loading software right now so got some serial cables on order. I might end up building the Raspberry PI3 drive emulator recently released.
