Abysm 2: Infernal Contract
It's a different approach than Heretic/Hexen about creating a fantasy RPG-ish take on Doom. Pretty tough, but the open world design and optinal 'dungeons' really make it worth playing. |

Played some games over weekend...
King's Valley (MSX) - RGL game Repton 3 (BBC B) - RGL game Pang! (Arcades) - RGL game Space Harrier (SMS) Centripede (A2600) Defender (A2600) Pinball Fantasies (Amiga - MiSTer FPGA, played from ADFs) Tetris (Amiga - MiSTer FPGA, played from ADFs) I was updating RecalBox and was testing installation. Also, finally got MiSTer back online and up to date. Last week couple of days I played Aven Colony - Team 17's venture into SimCity in space. Last edited by Anubis; 28 August 2023 at 13:51. |

It's not a Team17 game though is it? The last game I remember them making was the Flockers! They just polish up and publish other people's games now! Less risky but Mothership Entertainment made Aven Colony and Martyn Brown makes games whereas Debbie Bestwick and soon to be CEO Steve Bell just manage IP and foster growth in the digital marketplace whatever that means?! They basically just scout out talent like Andy Davidson with Worms IMHO and harvest its potential in an ever more corporate way! The 'real' Team17 developer AND publisher died in 2012 after Worms Revolution as far as I can tell!

Did not know that... sad, since they did some nice work back than, but many accused them of just creating polish games without bringing anything new to the market. Never cared for that, enjoyed most of their creations... and this game even if not created by them, still was good. Isn't steam (and Epic/GoG...) doing exactly the same thing, but on bigger scale? |

Yes, as another example The Survivalists has the following 'developer' listing:
Mouldy Toof Studios/Team17 This strikes me as more like ClickBoom! where you polish up someone else's game and pass it off as yours! Last edited by BigD; 29 August 2023 at 15:37. |

Let's be assured that they won't be releasing an Unreal Engine Alien Breed 3D 3 anytime soon! ?

Maybe if you can stomach to sit through the hour of the person playing Alien Breed (PC version of course) for the 30th anniversary for the first time you might find out:

mostly proceeding in Monster Boy
some further locations discovered on map are quite challenging still doable and different (better so far) mechanic than WB Dragon Trap easier bossfights, and it's a pro here |

He was playing a PC version of the original 2D game NOT Alien Breed 3D which is a FPS game! That's 5 minutes of my life I'll never get back! That influencer was awful!

On Saturday I beat Funky Jet on MAME. I had never heard of this game until I booted it up. It wasn't a bad game by any means that said it was nothing amazing it. I found it enjoyable if a bit repetitive.

I am still surprised that they were able to release the game with likes of Alien from the movie back then. Would brand new one in 3D be bit too much regarding potential IP trouble with aliens?
We all agree that we need SuperFrog in 3D as well? |

Just look at Alien Breed: Impact. Change the design around a little, boom - generic space shooter achieved. No link to any movies.
Superfrog in 3D. I agree! To disagree. |

Just the tiny problem that Alien Breed 3D is extremely niche. I was pretty surprised that Exhumed got a remaster, but it was pretty popular on the PlayStation. Don't think we'll get more than Project Osiris.

Everyone wants Unreal or Q3A to be the next remaster.
I want Chasm: the Rift. |

We are going from what you are playing into 'what would you like to play' atm...
To get us back on topic, just finished * Space Harrier (SMS) * Rad Racer (NES) Still playing for RGL: * Repton 3 (BBC) * Pang! (Arcades) Last night while setting up new updated MAME did play half through Final Fight. Used to be able to complete half of the game on coin, but with game pad and half attention took few coins to get there. |
