BTW
Steffen Häuser from Hyperion Entertainment released "Gorky 17" for Aos4.1 and AOS 3.x (68k). There is a chance that the game will also be released on WarpOs, but Steffen has a problem with the compiler. Message from Steffen (translated by google): The problem with WarpOS is the compiler. The old 2.95.2 compiler that I used 25 years ago for Heretic 2 is unfortunately not good enough for Gorky 17 (I have the native WarpOS->WarpOS 2.95.3 compiler, but unfortunately it crashes when linking in 68k emulation in OS4 - and on hardware Sonnet also doesn't work - and I don't have any native WarpOS anymore. There are people trying to find a solution (but if anyone has a working WarpOS compiler on cygwin, AmigaOS4, AmigaOS3 or - but that would be the worst solution since I don't have a Linux system and would have to run it on a VM - Linux-x86, please let me know). It should be noted that StormC4 is also not good enough (unless someone has working STL header files for StormC4, but I don't think there are any. So there's the problem). it's not that I don't want to do it (in fact, I already have code that compiles - but doesn't link - for WarpOS), the problem is that I don't have the right tools for the WarpOS version. Is there a chance to help Steffen? |

Yeah I mentioned this a couple pages ago, is he on here? Basically the way we've built all the stuff for WarpOS was from Hedeon's wonderful this: http://aminet.net/package/dev/gcc/gcc-mos2wos It's using MorphOS to run GCC, it's great and you get all of the nice IDE stuff from MorphOS, but that doesn't help if you're trying to run GCC on AmigaOS 4.1 under really super old WarpOS includes. The other option being building under 2.95.3 on 68K, pretty much worked, Exult I built that way and some other stuff like Hyperion Quake 2 mods. But I ran it under WinUAE with tons of memory, which I wondered if that was part of the problem? |

Someone tried to give him a MacMini, but both of them had faulty CD-ROM drives.
He is focussing on 68K at the moment (He has a PiStorm). |

EDIT: Can you give me a minimal WB with all drivers installed that runs V4 in 3D? Last edited by Hedeon; 02 July 2024 at 18:13. |

Just installed the carrier pci card with powerpc board from the pizza box and this worked in one go.
Did not try anything special yet but bogomips and getinfo work. And I see the ram. Stupid Killer card Next stop Warp3d… Warp3d also works however needed to put the pci carrier in the top slot and not on top of the voodoo. If it is on top of the voodoo the videocard does not work. Even with a bigfan blowing on it (not really hot). Last edited by Sukerbole; 02 July 2024 at 22:53. |

What kind of pci bridge did you have? I have the A3000 Firebird and i have the carrier in top slot and gfx in second and network in third. And that works.

The pci carrier indeed needs to be in the topslot. Gfx in 2. Other combinations are not stable (gfx card is not working correctly even without starting up the ppc or libs), I tried some quake version from aminet (non warp3d). This works very stable. The gears demo sometimes crashes. What is a good warp3d thing to try out? |

Mediator has its quirks. But if the gears demo is crashing, something is wrong, hardware-wise.

However, if GLQuake is stable and running for a significantly longer period of time than gears, it might be a software problem as well. (Well sort of) I'm assuming you're not running gears and GLQuake in the same screenmode. It's not difficult to have problematic Picasso96 screenmodes which display fine in the test mode of Picasso96Mode, but crash hard when you go to use them. In some cases they will work just fine for a few seconds or minutes. So in that respect it could be a software problem, that you are not using the exact same working screenmode which is working elsewhere in Warp3D. But then again, it could me more likely that it is just a hardware problem. |

Thanks for the tips.
Quakewos is stable also with Picasso modes Workbench is stable Gears is not stable. I have the feeling that the ppc library version makes a difference. 1.73b feels more stable than 1.74. I’m however not sure. Gears sometimes runs for 30 min but could also crash after 10s. Mostly software failure. So ppc works also in combination with Picasso. Warp3d is unstable in ppc mode. 68k is OK. So as long if I don’t touch warp3d it is OK. Is that a hardware problem? |

Most issues in the past have been voltage issues.

I don't know. I don't experience these problems. But 5V i think as that one gets converted to 3.3V but also it used for the voodoo3? Heard cleaning the MB connector helped with certain people.
