On Saturday I beat Armored Warriors on MAME. That was a really fun beat'em up one that I wish I had played sooner. Definitely on my play it again list in the future.

a lot of recent games, no retro atm
above all still proceeding into Dead Cells (the live-die-repeat frenetic mechanic got me) and Octopath Traveler, with some boring story but good battle system

Done with Just Cause 3 and from Medici moved to underground - playing Diablo. To be honest, I don't remember ever finishing the game, so givin' it good attention and even I promise myself that I will not use a village as my backpack - well, that happened.

Another thing I knew from experience - save before going to next floor - well managed to get destroyed by ganking off steel lords in level 13 just to find out that my save is @ beginning of level 12.

At level 14 currently, few quests left to do.

I beat Blazer on MAME on Saturday. It was interesting isometric tank shooter that while challenging with one hit deaths I rather enjoyed. It was a fun time and wish it would have saw a release in the US when it came out.

Just done with original Diablo. That end fight was tough, but kitting with rogue was possible to do with frequent portals to town for gear repair and resupply.

Just finished Fallout 3

Once without Fawkes (doh)

Now it is asking me to mop up the Enclave
I guess that is part of the 'Broken Steel' DLC

I looked at 'The Pitt' but don't fancy it ---
Same with (New Vegas) 'Dead Money' & 'Old World Blues'

Return to Monkey Island. Eeeh it's alright, a bit on the easy side, if you pay attention to what is said and written you need never be stuck. The unorthodox graphical style does take away a lot of the visual gags though, as I expected. All in all it kind of feels like half of a Monkey Island game. Music is good though, full points there.

D1 and for a large part D2 have something that D3 and beyond don't - limited vision. Every closed door and corner is a threat. Every barrel is one. Everything in the game tries to kill you at least some times - and can. Very tense games, it distracts from the monotony that plagues the gameplay loop of this genre of game.

Speaking of games where everything tries to kill you - just finished Far Cry - first game. Never managed to play it back in day and only Far Cry game I completed was Primal. (love the story and visuals in that game)

Played on challenging level - meaning even game is not that long - it took many 'reload latest save point' Happy ending and even some PG-13 material in this one... wonder if I have it in myself to try to play next title in series.

I should get back to playing Far Cry 4. Really enjoyed the game, but then life happened and I just never picked it up again.

Far Cry 4 is probably my favorite thus far. It's the most zen world to stomp/fly around in and the fortresses are just the right amount of challenge when you do them before killing their leader. Too bad there are only 4. Pagan Min should have been a little more of a presence though.

The open world just clicked once I started the game and I really enjoyed that the game isn't 'pushy' about following the main story. Time to dust off Uplay

The next Doomer Boards project is a Steampunk action-adventure with quests and stuff! There are 18 maps and custom graphics, music and sounds. Played a couple of maps and as always it's really good

Finished Final Fantasy XVI yesterday, only it's not Final Fantasy any longer but more like a Devil May Cry action adventure.

There's no parties to manage, no turn-based combat, a linear story with next to nothing to do in terms of exploration.
No, instead we get Devil May Cry hack'n slash gameplay and stupid quick time events (during boss fights).

If you're expecting a true Final Fantasy experience, this is not it.
6/10, don't believe the hyped up reviews.

Speaking of Devil May Cry. It has some great 12v force vibration on the bad when fighting lol.

I was playing Return to Monkey Island. Took a break and haven't had a chance to return to it.

Currently tinkering with RPi 4 on 240p and now Pimiga!

Thanks for the warning. FF15 didn't fully click with me, but at least it still feels Final Fantasy-ish enough.

Yeah but what is a true Final Fantasy experience.

Final Fantasy 9 with the Final Fantasy 7 materia system, for me personally. That would be my ideal game, the franchise can end right there and then and I'd be just fine with it. Final Fantasy 16 goes so far in the other direction that I knew right from the beginning that I would give this one a hard pass. But that's alright, it's not the failure of a game when you personally don't like it. It's allowed and expected for a franchise which really goes in all directions.
