the .card and the .library needs to be updated both as some functionality shifted from one to the other.

Code:
- Removed restriction on AllocDMA/FreeDMA - prometheus.card now does the check
- Some S3 cards can now be used for DMA purposes
- Search for Prometheus.card under LIBS:Picasso96/
- Fixed translation of physical to virtual address
- Increased reset time of the Prometheus/Firebird bridge per hints from Mathias Heyer
- Version number now correctly displayed

Which PCI bridge is better (faster or more compatibility) solution for A4000 for PPC - Sonnet project? Mediator or Firebird?

Mediator is faster and more compatible. Currently Firebird shows timing issues in certain circumstances that don't seem to appear with the Mediator. K1/M1 do not work reliable on the Firebird.

What would be a better choice if I plan to future extend my Amiga with ppc pci card (crescendo 7200 or bigfoot killer) - buying Mediator or Firebird daughterboard? I plan to have also voodoo 3 and lan, usb lic controller.

New to this mayhem, fun thread! I have an AA3000+ and Prometheus Firebird card. I was able to use openpci.library and 4.1 (?) of prometheus.library with prmscan, and find my ATI Radeon 9250 cards, so I think *something* is working on this system. Given that I have a zz9000, i sold off the Radeon cards.

Now I have a Killer K1/M1 card (says M1, but no radiator and chip says K1), and while it lights up in the system (its LEDs light up, literally), prmscan doesn't see it.

Is there any value in pci.library and ScanPCI or PCIScan utilities? Or are those mediator specific and don't apply?

Do I need powerpc.library and initppc/startppc/getinfo to "kick" the Killer into gear, and then prmscan will find it?

Very confused, my apologies.

If you can find a PMC Carrier for a reasonable price, the Apocalypse is hard to beat.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/184255849620?epid=7048806266
Also a Mediator MK-2 or later.

I can't really comment on how good a Firebird is since I've never run one.

pci.library is mediator specific. And if the M1/K1 is not seen with prmscan, try to reseat.
Like I said just a few post back (again) that the M1/K1 is unstable with the Firebird. The Mediator is (for now, I think there are some initiatives to improve the Firebird firmware) the better choice.

And 4.4 is the latest prometheus.library

Correct. It's arguably the 2nd best PPC PCI card available. Some would say it's the best.
The down side is that one on ebay only has 128MB, but you can upgrade it with some effort.

It's also overclockable, not that it is needed or advised and somewhat difficult, it requires moving some resistors around.

Maybe we could do some benchmarks for the available systems to have a nice comparison table.
I could provide benchmarks for A4000TX, BFG 50Mhz or 100Mhz, Promeheus PCI, Radeon 9250 or Voodoo3 and Apocalypse G4@450Mhz.

There are already benchmarks within this thread for various ppc boards with a few different games/benchmarks. There are also many speed comparison posts between mediator/prometheus. It’s worth doing a search.

The ‘best’ is probably the Ramix239/f. Technobox ones have been tested and appear to work ok. There appears to be some ‘homebrew’ ones made by lukzer too

The old mediators need a PMC2PCI that converts 5V to 3.3V. The RAMIX does that.

Will this one work https://www.ebay.pl/itm/145137282023...is&media=COPY?
I can see.some cards have 2 (lukzer) ,3 or 4 (Ramix) PMC (those white ones) connectors. Does it matter how many are there? Where I can get Lukzer adapter?

No idea if that one works but there does not appear to be a vrm, so your busboard will need to supply enough 3.3V power to your pmc module.

You might contact Lukzer on here, he’s an eab member (and the polish forum too)
