@All,
What are you guys using to stream internet radio ? AmigaAMP 2.25 doesn't support streaming and AmigaAmp 3.x doesn't work so well with the Sonnet. Looking for a PPC solution ![]() |

The engine will be reinstated in a next version of AmigaAmp3. Or so I heard and read on A1k.

It still works in version 2.25. I just did a quick test of it. Grab an M3U from say: https://www.internet-radio.com/stations/50s/
128k streams generally work best as I recall. Last edited by grelbfarlk; 19 May 2022 at 03:41. |

It would be nice to have the engine back though...hopefully this happens soon. Hedeon, did you ever figure out why AmigaAmp 3.x doesn't work that well? |

Probably because it is not a PPC program. For 2.25 I had to patch the powerpc library to recognize it as such. The PPC parts are externally loaded (either the engine or mpeg library) but the data is probably loaded by the main program itself, so it goes into 68K memory. Same for the external PPC visualizations.

By the way, I just tried WarpAMP from Aminet. It seems to play back mp3's using the PPC with much less stuttering when you are doing other things. I don't think it supports streaming, sadly
![]() But for just playing back MP3's it seems to work better than AmigaAMP 2.25. |

Yeah, that Playmus player I posted a while back used some very small percentage of CPU time for playing OGGs and other stuff. It would be sure nice for a full PPC player of various things, that had a GUI and visualizer and all that.
I want to say Frogger and AMP2 play MP3's too. FFPlay from FFMPEG was nearly working at some point, that includes some form of visualization/waveforms and I'm pretty sure could handle streams too. I think Wrangler should have that ready next week after he releases the WarpUP version of AHI. |

Did anything ever happen with that AMC card? We have to have the lasterliest PPC card to be the Dagor Dagorath. If that's not going to work we can just buy some of those QorIQ boards.
On another topic, OpenTTD, An open source simulator based on the classic game Transport Tycoon Deluxe looks like it would be reasonably easy to port to WarpOS. Yes the main support is SDL2, but it looks like it still supports SDL 1.x. Last edited by grelbfarlk; 11 July 2022 at 04:58. |

The Carrier card was PCIe x2 (or was it 4x..) while the PCI-PCIe adapter is PCIe x1. I haven't found a PCIe x1 carrier yet. I know they exist....
Put it in the freezer next to the other projects for now. |

You can cut a PCIe 1X slot to fit a PCIe 4X card into it. In theory it should work like leaving a 64bit PCI card's extra contacts hanging off of a PCI 32bit slot.

Looking a bit further, there are 1x to 4x riser cards. So I ordered one with a bit of cable as the AMC carrier is like 20x30 cm so now I can place it beside the Amiga. The carrier can act even as a stand-alone computer.
