A restructure of Programs partition on the AmiBench on the A600GS:
Games drawer added for games that can start from AmiBench, such as WHDLOAD / JST games packs. Office drawer icon added. This is for applications such as Final Writer. Time Prefs updated to v46.21 which adjusts the tab corners to rounded edges. |

The following software updates for the A600GS have been uploaded today through the in-built live update system. They are available to download for all registered AmiSphere users:
46.1.776 (26.07.2024): AmiBerry: Merge with latest AmiBerry release, retaining the threaded SDL rendering for performance. A couple of small fixes for valgrind. The Status bar was overwriting the end of the SDL surface by 1 line, causing crashes when the Surfaces were freed. FIXED. Add a custom RTG screen mode to support "Future Attractions" A600GS: Add improved error handling and reporting to the update process. Fix up left over GUI locks after update failures (and occasionally success!) The GPIOCtrl object could be disposed off uninitialised if the application exited very soon after startup, typically when passed an incorrect command-line arg, that only happens in testing. FIXED Improve handling of incorrect arguments, catching the correct exception in the on_cmd() signal handler. Build script tweaks Wrong flag was tested for reinstalling programs When the start button on gamepad was pressed as the "any key to start" the joystick handler would switch modes, leaving a trailing key down event that would trigger autorepeat. FIXED. Update archive unpacking errors now throw exceptions, for error reporting through the previously fixed mechanism SystemV46: Add SYS:Prefs/Time and SYS:System/TimeGuard to allow time setting independent of the host machine. Setup InstallerNG Some config changes to support "Future Attractions" Programs: Add Games directory to support "Future Attractions" |

@spannernick
We are gradually getting there- our in house developer has been putting many hours of work in the last few weeks. Over the coming months we have so many other features and ideas to push to A600GS users through the Amisphere Updates. |

Thats interesting, thats has 2 analog sticks, the Amiga only uses one directional per player not 2 though, is it a 2 player controller so can be used on 2 player games that use 2 joysticks...?.
We need a case for the Greseweasel (not sure how to spell it) plus the disk drive so its the same shape as the ARMIGA so all in one case that holds the disk drive too... The problem I have with it is I have to put it together everytime I want to use it so connect and disconnect the floppy disk drive. Might be a good idea too is a option to buy it with a floppy disk drive too plus case so its all in one, but not sure if they still make them. Last edited by spannernick; 31 July 2024 at 14:19. |

The following software updates for the A600GS have been uploaded today through the in-built live update system. They are available to download for all registered AmiSphere users:
46.1.792 (02.08.2024): A600GS: Add special handling for backing up from INSTALL archives AmiBerry: Using SDL_Renderer settings to add support for scaling P96 screens to fit the display. Add a specific patch for display the VGP screen at correct aspect. Set default to write_log to true for __A600GS__ Fix bug where scanning of P96 modes might abort. A600GS: Add GetPASoundCardMute(index) to query the mute status of an audio sink. Use above to keep PauseMenu mute button in sync with sound card. Add game panel mute button top right. Now checks for a600gs update version via public URL when not logged in. Use fork and exec to launch kickstart helpers. Rather than system and escaping so that any weird filename a will work as expected. Display the a600gs firmware and image version bottom left on login screen Fix up logic for displaying available updates when not logged in. Clean up logging and remove some redundant output No longer set audio volume when changing sink, let Pulse do the work for us. Improve handling of duplicate directory names when installing games and apps. Add a new function to extract a more human readable title from a ADF filename or similar. Verify file size of downloaded file matches file size returned by file manager. Discard file and abort update if the above test fails. SystemV46: AB-Dock no longer crashes on exit. |

VIRTUAL GRAND PRIX AND THUNDERHELL GAMES BUNDLED ON THE A600GS
Cardiff, 4 August 2024 Famous Amiga games developer, Paolo Cattani has provided his classic Amiga games to be pre-installed on the new A600GS computer. Virtual GP and Thunderhell are installed ready to play on the A600GS. Existing A600GS users can download a free update directly from Amisphere.com to install the games to the games menu. Virtual GP was sadly Paolo's last production for the Amiga range of computers shortly after Commodore's bankruptcy. He wanted to to contribute to the Amiga games scene so started the development of Virtual GP (codename AlienF1). VGP would have to accomplish two missions: on the one hand, it would implement a fast 3D engine aimed at hi-specification Amigas (AGA and 68030 required) featuring gouraud shading, texture mapping, billboarding, curved surfaces and all the things that were “hot” at those times; on the other hand, it had to be the most realistic simulation of a Formula One car available on the Amiga. Thunderhell is a classic shoot-em-up game. The game is an horizontal scrolling (with three levels of parallax), fast paced shoot’em up full of enemies, bullets, explosions and all the bells and whistles that one could expect from a game of that genre. Matthew Leaman, MD of AmigaKit Ltd commented on the collaboration: “We are thrilled that Paolo has agreed to include his great games with the A600GS. We are grateful for his support of our project.” Paolo Cattani added: “As a pioneer in the development of video games for the Amiga range of computers I'm very glad and honoured to give my contribution to an amazing project which keeps alive the memory of a machine that was such a glorious milestone of the IT history.” The A600GS computer system is available now from AmigaKit.com and AmigaKit.fr Additional Information about A600GS and it's components can be found on these websites: A600GS: www.a600gs.com |

Hi, yes it is very easy. You can plug in a USB flash drive with ADF/HDF or WHDLoad games and press the Add button. The disk label can be captured from the game by pressing Pause option then select Snapshot Thumb option. A video shows how to do this: [ Show youtube player ] |

I assume the games are permanently added to A600GS then, so i no longer need the USB flash drive connected? |

@speshady
Yes that is correct- once they get copied to the A600GS hard drive, they are stored there ready to be used at any time. |
