We'll just have to get a PPC Mac emulator running so we can run Lightwave instead.

No. Ifusion doesn't work, will probably never work. See discussion a couple pages back.

Amazing thread and information! Thanks for all the work to date!!!

Some help needed please!

Every time I startup Warp3D software with the PPC, I get "Exception: Data Storage" errors (screen shot below) does anyone know what this means?

I've searched through the thread and I can't see anything that relates. Apologies in advance if I missed something.

Current Setup:

Amiga 4000T
A3640 Rev3.2
16mb Fast RAM
3.1.4 Kickstart ROMS
Elbox Mediator 3V MK-III
Technobox 4930 PMC
Emerson "Apocalypse" PPC G4 450Mhz, 128Mb
Voodoo3 3000
Elbox Spider2 USB
Pioneer SCSI Slot CD/DVD
IDE to CF/SD HDD

What I know works (and is stable):

InitPPC - startups quickly, no errors
pciinfo - demonstrates ram being allocated after initppc command
Bogomips - output 909 bogomips
Gears 68k Warp Demo (Gears PPC demo's don't work)
WarpUP Voxelspace Demo - 25FPS @ 640x480
Various P96 screen modes - 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768 etc.

Seems like an error opening a library. What does SnoopDOS say?

To anyone with warp3d ppc issues; try ditching the aminet warp3dppc files and use the elbox ones instead

But only on Mediator based setups, right?

I’d say so, but worth a try with Prometheus if you’re still stuck.

We’ve just got mgfalc’s issues sorted by swapping over to the elbox files

I wish these PCI expansions were not so expensive. I have a ton of PCI cards lying around.

Thought everyone knew by now that the Aminet ones are for G-Rex and Prometheus. I mean...the readme even states it.

Not only that, the Mediator setup script does not install the files correctly if you use a big box Mediator - I had to copy them over by hand.

It is conceivable that it was due to previous install of RADEON but I'm not the only one to have this issue and also seen posts about people saying their A1200 version copied over the big box files :-/

I guess not! I noticed the difference in file size between the ones on his system and those on mine, so suggested a swap to the elbox ones. It was your message earlier about a possible library error that made me think of that

They aren't so expensive compared to buying the Zorro versions of all this stuff. Two of my MK-2 mediators I picked up used for a little over $100.

If you compare buying Zorro versions of an RTG board, Ethernet or Sound it all ends up being about the same price or slightly cheaper, before you consider what it costs for a CSPPC.

I'm not really sure what a redesign of the Prometheus would cost Prometheus for a non-AA3000+ version. But I can't imagine it would cost less than $150 in parts, cost of assembly and testing and recoup of redesign time and it's probably up over $300, just like the Mediator.

Cosmos has made a 4000D firestorm prometheus, as has a guy on A1K. I'll ask them what the final cost was.

Hi @mgfalc

How did you get on? I've got a similar setup and have got warp3D to work with my A4KT with 3.1.4 kickstart roms, there are some differences which are my mediator is a MKII so I have to use a ramix PMC carrier and my Accelerator is a A3660

I was wondering if you want a copy of my system image to see if it will work on yours?

Also how are you cooling your PPC on the Technobox 4930 PMC

Sonnet 7200 PCI programming

Hello all

Due to the apocalypse working with my A4KT

I returned my Sonnet back to the Alice A4k Mediator 4000D MKIII setup expecting all to be good how wrong was I

So on initial start up it said could not allocate VGA memory this was due to VoodooMemOS stating No so returned to Yes and Sonnet started happy days but my happiness was short lived I could do the Warp3D ppc demos no problem but any game would result in a crash more or less instantly

I finally discovered that it seems to be the SpiderUSB card with it remove blitzquake and wipeout start up and run correctly. is this a known issue or is there additional steps which I am missing? I’ve tried lots of different pci slot configuration which are limited due to the ram location on the Sonnet but always the same or worse.

I also tried @hedeons new Beta libs from post #4394 on my Mediator but same issue with usb card but without the usb card blitzquake loaded and I’ve got a timedemo FPS screenshot this is with resolution set at 640 x 480

I’ll add my showconfig and MMU-configuration file in a mo

Here they are

Showconfig

PCIinfo without USB

MUScan

PCIinfo with usb installed

I haven't tested Sonnet in a long while. I'm not really sure what your system is, I take it's a towerized A4000D?
The card order I have in my towerized A4000D goes:
-Top-
Slot 5 - 10MB NIC
Slot 4 - Ragnarok/Rapture/Sonnet
Slot 3 - Voodoo
Slot 2 - FM801
Slot 1 - Spider
-Bottom-

Maybe it's coincidence but my other A4000D in a tower I also have the Spider in the bottom slot. In this system it goes:
-Top-
Slot 5 - 10MB NIC
Slot 4 - SB128 (CT5808)
Slot 3 - Radeon
Slot 2 - Apocalypse
Slot 1 - Spider
-Bottom-

I don't generally start the PSDStackloader during startup, I only start it up when I have need of the USB.
That is a pretty normal timedemo result for your config though.

Yeah the blitzquake demo was just to show Hedeon’s Beta drivers working with a Mediator and Sonnet

Yes this system is a A4000D in a Elbox tower

I’m not loading any of the usb drivers yet just trying to get it to work with the usb card installed

So I’ve tried many different slot orientations but always the same the other issue I have is my fastATA needs to be in either Zorro slot 4 or 5 if I have it in any others it seem to cause corruption on the drive but this mean it clashes with the Sonnet in certain PCI slots

Think I might look into a PCI extender and mount the Sonnet in a different location luckily there is a lot of room in these old Elbox tower cases

Oh I noticed I forgot my MMU-Configuration file

Loads of pictures but none indicating what crash you are having.
