Ok, it does seem to be a bit system hungry for a 2D game.

Ok guys, been playing around for the past 2.5 hours with many different options in order to get the "after level 1 / before level 2" cutscene working reliably...
When you jump onto the ship and the game just sits there; don't press the <Left Mouse Button> in the menu to continue as it will then skip the intro. Instead press the <MAC Command + M> keys (<Menu + M> keys in Windows); which toggles "Ambient Music On" off / on). Wait for a second and press the <MAC Command + M> keys again Edit: this <MAC Command + M> keys trick also works if the intro gets stuck. Last edited by DamienD; 19 September 2019 at 22:05. |

The game has a half screen mode does this make any difference to the slowdowns?

if you have AHI disabled, you probably get a smoother start (much less choppiness) but more bugs e.g. no cutscene |

Works everytime!!! No need for AHI to be installed; it doesn't really make much difference cutscene reliability wise, and actually makes things worse in terms of game slowdowns... ...plus as mentioned, the "<MAC Command + M> keys" trick also helps "unsticking" the intro and cutscene when playing, if this occurs |

Added "Crystal Caliburn" to the compilation, which is here.
OS & game hvf's are in the Zone as well. I like pinball games and I wanted to have a Mac pinball game with high res in the compilation. They suit the joypad well, too. So I picked one from [ Show youtube player ] compilation , maybe not the best, but it's very small, looks good and it's nice for a quick go. Now the dark side, it was surprisingly fiddly to extract/update.. and it's not perfect with ShapeShifter either. If you pause the game (by clicking with the mouse) and resume the game it says not enough mem for background music and eventually crashes. There's plenty of RAM (32MB), tried a few mem options in the OS to no avail. So I decided I won't pause the game just play it Have a look if you feel like. edit: Tried this pinball on real hw and it's big enough on the tv to see how bad the ball movement is. Eh, I might need to get a different pinball. Last edited by wairnair; 20 September 2019 at 23:21. |

Had to go through all options under "Control Panel" until I found it...
Anyway, do this: "Mac" icon --> "Control Panel" --> "General Controls" and then untick "Warn me if computer was shut down improperly": |

Just noticed basilisk_pop2.zip in the zone is wairnair experimenting with non shapeshifter mac emulation now? Is it better than Shapeshifter do we know?

I thought that this would have already been done in wairnair's "PrinceOfPersia2_OS.hfv" already though as it's fine in ShapeShifter. |
