I did say shatterhand would officially get things going in that thread. But he's said we can crack on so 1st of September will be fine. Anyone entering after that date should be given a proportional amount of time extra to finish. E.g. they start a week late they get another week. Up to 3 weeks after the 1st

Well let's stick to that then Quote:
Going by what you've said that means that people could finish around the 21st of March 2019 depending, while others will be the 28th of February 2019 (and anything in between) |

It was just an idea for those that haven't heard about the competition no big deal.

Deadline is deadline, no matter the join date. Also it is not needed to declare an official start, so shifting a deadline regarding the start doesnt make sense.

But one more question Do I have to state now that I will participate in the competition or can I wait - f/e until my game engine is ready and I'm sure I'll produce anything worth showing to the community? |

Totally up to you really but I think it's probably best to announce when you start the project

I would say entering now is in the spirit of the competition, but it's up to you. Nothing in the rules about it.

Part of the idea is to encourage development so showing your progress would seem to fit that goal, but it's not obligatory.
I doubt I'll be finished by the deadline but hopefully my efforts inspire those who can actually finish a project! |

Please make clean rules, dates, deadlines for the competition. My experience in the last 3 or 4 contest that i'm participate or colaborate was a joke .
Fair and well-defined rules and a respect to the participants and the amount of hours and effort devoted to them indepently of contest position or quality of games. I'm interested in the evaluation criteria you want use for the contest. Last edited by kikems; 29 August 2018 at 01:44. |

I think the dates and deadlines are clear and so are the rules, kikems.
I will not say I am joining the party until I am not sure my programming attempts are worth showing. I am still in the phase of searching for a good and original idea I hope it will come soon. |

I guess once the competition has completed you then upload your game, finished or not, to The Zone!, attach to your thread or upload to a file hosting site...
Then it's over to the judges to download, assess and finally announce the winners. I'll then contact / pay the winners out of the prize fund |
