Crazy that gears_PPC doesn't work for me and quake2 loads and stops...

What can I test to figure this out?

Using the warp3d drivers from aminet. (4.2a version).

Have 3.1.4.1 OS and warp engine 3040 and the ragnarok. I also have my x-surf 100 in the AA3000+...

Tried 5 different versions of P96... booted with the bare minimum. Wondering if I got bad hardware somewhere???

I found that the very latest picasso96 (3.2 maybe?) from icomp broke warp3d. Dunno what file in particular it is that’s the problem

Thanks Trixster for that. Since I tried every version I could think of for P96, not sure that is my issue. It should have negated that issue.

I used snoop does when running gearsPPCWindow and noticed it failed on the pci.library. I will look into that and see what the issue may be with that.

A bit of progress??? Playing still.

If I run Quake2 from the GUI loader it gives a ppc exception
Quake2 runs sometimes for a minute or so then locks. Tried using -noaudio with same results...
Sometimes quake2 (from command prompt) will give 8100 00FF guru.
gearsppcwindows gives an 8100 00FF guru.

I think pci.library is used for mediator and not for the aa3000+ firestorm...?

I tried reducing maxtrans to 0XFFFFFF from 0XFFFFFFF. I'm using pfs3aio btw.

What library versions are you using,
How do you start the PPC.

I checked my libs and nothing is (trying to) open(ing) the pci.library.

Which makes me believe you have wrong drivers.

That might be some other issue. Please make a thorough bug report on git.

When you run gears PPC snoopdos shows it asking for pci.library.

I start with the initppc file you supplied with the startppc files copied to c:

The raganarok memory is seen and it works fine with all 68k stuff.

I'm using the file you gave us on this thread a few pages ago...

Strange that is does run q2 for a bit, the graphics get more and more corrupted until it halts.

Check your warp3d drivers. They are opened when you start gears. It should not open pci.library.

The Warp3D drivers that use pci.library (on the Elbox site) are different than the ones found on Aminet.

It said warp3dppc.library was read fail their also. Maybe I got the wrong warp stuff like you said... I will have to clean it all out and start over... Strange, I used the installer..

Uninstalled warp3d and reinstalled.

Looks like it did install the warp3d.library but the warp3dppc.library did not install.

It is no longer looking for pci.library when loading gears but it crashes still and it doesn't find iconx early on and warp3dppc.library, which it didn't install.

Do I need to copy that file over?

Quake2 still runs for a minute and get corrupt graphics and crashes same as before...

Made progress...
Renamed the warp3d.library and copied over the warp3dppc.library. (I tried not renaming it also and keeping warp3d.library there with same results...)

Now snoopdos finds everything with gears and the powerpc.library gives illegal run68k execution detected. A ppc exception window is also given.

Why would you only manually install warp3dppc.library and not the whole package... So warp3d.library (is 68K) war3dppc.library (ppc) and the stuff in GFXdrivers and HWdrivers.

I did install the entire package and it didn't install the warp3dppc.library.

I selected p96 and avenger/voodoo.

That is how warp3d installed with the installer.

The warptest program has always worked fine. Then go run the gearsppcwindow and crash...

Warptest is not PPC.

The installer probably didn't detect WarpOS being present and messed up on installing the ppc components.

Ok, I installed all the warp3d stuff manually where it belongs and get same results.

tried a different version of quake2 and it says:
supplied bitmap cannot be handled by warp3d.
Error opening of display failed.

Tried removing NIC, changing order of cards. No effect.

I highly suspect my voodoo 3 card at this point since everything seems to run except for the warp3d stuff.

The ragnarok seems ok since it's memory shows right up and the system is stable...

If there is anything I'm missing before I look for another one let me know.

Test it with the 68K Warp3D gears.
