He did already write that it might work with other A1200 accelerators, but he could obviously not give any guarantees as it is designed to work with ACA accelerators.

@Jens
Is ACA500 will work with an Amiga 2000 ? Or did you think about ACA2000 ? (CPU slot version) |

I bet Jens look forward for the first apollo owner to complain that his 060 is a bit wonky attached to the aca500.

I'm sure someone will try to hook up a PPC board to it.

Vaporware worries me indeed.
It may be that Jens feels that the A500 market is too weak. I don't think that anyone here uses anything less than a pimped up A600 or A1200, if not a fully upgraded big box. We all keep our first A500 with passion, but who really fires it up more than once in a decade? Amongst the few people that really use their A500 most have already got themselves the fine add-ons by Kipper2k, or are waiting for Zeus. Those interested in the ACA500 are only dreaming about putting something else on it (like a PPC). So, no release date makes me think that Jens is hesitating about this expansion and will eventually NOT release it unfortunately... |

Probably true. There are many Amiga 500 owner (stored it in a locker for years) who will redicover their Amiga feeling if the data transfer/modern HD solution is that easy now. Many more than the few A500 user who wants to upgrade their computer with a big turbocard.

My fear, not having a A500 myself, is that a lot of people will pull old A500's out of storage, only to find battery damage, and age degraded components. But the amount of A500's out there is simply staggering.

Jejeje. So do you believe (some posts ago) that Jens is so noob that he will post some photos sooner just because you are telling it's vaporware?

I just managed to rescue my A500 from battery damage. Most of them have batteries on the mem expansion you know.
My battery was leaking so much that it was buried in white and blue crystals and the entire expansion card was green. One IC pin in the A500 had become green, but otherwise it wasn't harmed. Yet. |
