Seems like my BVision is DOA. I bought it off Ebay a few months ago supposedly working... but it simply doesn't. I've tried all sorts of things to get it running but its just not having it so I need to find a new one, this time i'll buy from Amibay (If one comes up) so I know there is more of a guarantee it will work.
Anyway. I've been adding more components to my A1200 over the last few days, a select few pics attached and you can see more at my A1200 Mod Picasa web album here: - http://picasaweb.google.com/10692986...552/A1200Mods# BPPC fitted with temporary SIMMS DVD and HDD mounted plus nice cables made Its a tight fit! Next to do I will try and mount the Delfina and Subway, then add a 2cm fan in place of the modulator (hole needs extending). I also need to cut out some strip board to mount 2 USB ports onto and a piece for the back expansion port to hold the Video switcher circuit and the VGA/ Ethernet ports. I've also ordered 3 x 40mm 11dB Fans that I will try and mount along the top grill of the case. Last edited by phipscube; 04 November 2010 at 22:15. Reason: Adding better photos |

You checked the connector? They are very fragile. I know BuZz of exotica broke his just repeatedly connecting and disconnecting his during a build. |

Yeah, I've checked all the pins and solder joints on the whole card under a magnifying machine at work. Everything looks fine. I have a similar thread over at Amibay and the suggestion was voltage levels, but i've tried 3 different PSU's all with the same result. Amiga just stays with a black screen and nothing happens. There is a guy on Amibay who lives near me and we plan to meet up next week. He has a BVPPC and BPPC. I'll try to see if it works in his and vice versa to be more sure. will post more as I find out whats up

A thing I forgot to mention: what revision is your BPPC? IIRC, the first revision will not work with a BVision, no matter what.

@rkauer
How do you distinguish each Blizzardppc revision? Are you certain it wont work at all? |

I'm not sure to be honest... Do I find the revision on early start-up? I kinda assumed Stan would have tested it with a BVPPC before he sold me it though... I know he's put the latest official release Firmware on it so would that be good enough?

All versions of Blizzard PPC will work with BVision. There are some problems to get Blizzard PPC rev0 working properly under AOS3.1 and CGX4.0 - that's true. It's a question of proper configuring of CGX to get them working properly under AOS3.0/3.1. No problem whatsoever under AOS 3.9 or AOS4.0. Ang you will be ALWAYS able to get bootmenu screen without any trick with any BPPC revision - just switch-on. It's the best way to check if BVision is working properly. |

I've tried all sorts of other things with the BVision... still no go, I gave up on it for now. I put out a wanted for another one on Amibay so lets see if I get any offer there.
But I have been busy with other bits too, Mainly, I managed to get my 128MB SIMMs installed! and they are running at 66MHz! Took a few small tweak hacks to get them to fit physically but all is good. And I figured out how to put images into the message body! so enjoy better quality photos from now here's my cut down Floppy Bracket: - And BPPC Heatsink clip: - Just fits: - And along the back: - Here they are together! Beastly! :- And they work: - whichamiga, just to show all the juicy details : - So there you go! Thats cheered me up a bit after all the BVPPC crap Check out more small tweaks i've been making today at my Picasa web album: - http://picasaweb.google.com/10692986...552/A1200Mods# Enjoy the pr0n! And here are some more pics of my project...
The rear exhaust fan is in, providing much needed heat release from the HDD and indivision. I've also made my custom back plate for VGA and Ethernet. The blank part of the board will one day hold an auto video switching circuit for BVision and Indi outputs. the small Ethernet adapter will connect to my Subway at some point. The Compact Flash card reader is in too.. The card fits nicely. USB ports in as well! Bit of glue for them and they are solid. Floppy installed ok ontop. Did some major modding to my delfina so it fits under my keyboard. It squeezes in over the DVD cables. From the other side next to the BPPC. a fair bit of space between it and the BPPC. Looking under the keyboard there is plenty of space! a good 2mm! With the keyboard resting comfortably. So thats my doings over the last few days, as always see my Picasa album for the more intricate details of my modding here: - http://picasaweb.google.com/10692986...552/A1200Mods# Enjoy! |

Cheers guys!
So here are a few more things i've been doing: - I managed to fit the Subway along the back and made some plugs on the end of the 4 wires coming from the 2 side USB ports, the Ethernet adapter and the CF card reader. I also installed my BVision temporarily to see how it all fit. The heatsinks on the BVision arent fixed down. Heres a zoomed out view of everything in just so you see how crammed the old girl is! I modified the trapdoor with an aluminium mesh Thats better for the Beast, and I think it looks kinda mean... like a wild caged animal! Don't worry it wont bite now Added the case fans! much needed air intake. The old girl sounds a bit rowdy now, even though the fans are rated at 11dB, its still a bit noisy. A shot of the case coming over the top, with the fans in view. That anxious moment before you power up after a heavy mod... will it work, will it burn... you all know that feeling (its what us modders kinda get a kick from)................ SHE WORKS! I treat her to a little bit of bling: - And a wide shot to show off You can see more details at my picasa web album too of course http://picasaweb.google.com/10692986...552/A1200Mods# Enjoy! Really a good job to look at, maybe a fan speed controller will help your 3 fans on the upper assembly casing?

Yeah I have a fan speed controller I made a bit ago, but i'm weighing up if I should slow them down... I need to do lots of temperature testing. This will happen more when I get the BVPPC working
