Frying a computer by overclocking the CPU is not so obvious. Most of the time, it will simply fail to reboot with the modified settings.

Here, read what features Asrock added to its new mobos :
  • U-COP helps protect the CPU from overheating while the CPU frequency or core voltage is overdriven
  • The Boot Failure Guard will automatically issue the safe boot up mode when improper overclocking settings result in system boot failure

And I am pretty sure other manufacturers follow this trend.

It doesn't mean you shouldn't act carefully when doing so, but starting with jumperless mobos, overclocking has became more and more subject to trial & error gurus and apprentices.

also tried mono and different bit rats and different combos
any ideas?
I gave the new Eee PC 900A a go at the computer shop, armed with bench mark program and WINUAE, WHDL, AGA Aladdin and CD32 fire and ice on a flash USB Stick
Success it works perfect with out striping down Win XP
Just sold my 901 and bought the 900A
It seems that the 900a is the best out of the 900 series
Very Happy

Glad for you !

Well, someone should make stickies "WinUAE capable" to replace the dispised & misleading "Vista capable" ones
