I'd have to say that the scoretables are much like the flash arcade ones that used to be here. I'd much rather the tables remain here all the time for each game than the games revolve around and I miss the chance of posting for a specific game.

I'm not entirely sure if the above sentence made perfect sense so I'm going to sum it up:

Have score tables for each game up all the time.
Do not have score tables for different games every "insert time period here"

@HomicidalMonkeyBoy

I didnt mean that a games HS table would be removed, only more added if the demand was there, so eventually the list would grow. Maybe I didnt explain very well.

I say yeah, good idea in principle.

As long as it isn't going to create too much work for RCK, it might make for an interesting addition.

Re score authentication: trust system is the only way imo. If people feel the need to cheat and thus disrespect their fellow competitors, that's their problem. Bad Karma, man.

I wasn't actually replying to your comment, I was thinking about the scoreboard and had a thought.

So don't feel as though you didn't explain well!

Big grin trust system yes !but real and EMU

..... I don,t carte if my scores arent in the top twenty its just a bench mark of how devoted you are to a certain game , heck sometimes I,ve done better when I,ve gone back to a game after a long abscence , so competiton PIFFLE { its nice to feel special at at least one aspect of " MIGGY Life " } so guys for me its a yes ! JUST BRING IT !

{ I don,t believe diz and Fisk are as shallow as they paint each other or are they !:eek }

First: I think there is absolutely NO WAY to prevent cheating unless there are at least 3 people not known or relatives to the player observing the game and confirming the score - give me a screenshot and Photoshop, and in no time I will present you screenshots or even .avi's with scores that are virtually impossible... ;-)

Second: so, if the whole system must be based on trust for above reason, that be it. What's the point in cheating in such a "contest" anyway? If you beat the other guys by a mere 100 points, you are as good as them with a little more luck. If you beat the others by a million points, no one will believe you did not cheat. ;-)

I'd really like to see Highscore Tables on the board and I would participate on a trust basis. My girlfriend and I use to play Pinball Illusions on the CD32, and there's nothing more motivating than trying to beat the others highscore, nothing more frustrating than to miss it by just a million points, and nothing more challenging than to try to get better next time. ;-)

So: thumbs up for this idea.

TRUST IN ME....................

I'll definitely be up for it. I won't cheat because I can't. When have you ever seen a Gorilla cheat? Fair enough we throw barrels at little guys that jump, but we don't cheat.

Uh sure you do cheat!

Gorillas cheat on their gorilla women by kidnapping some mechanics' beloved girlfriend, climbing up steel girders to have a little "private conversation" with that female... and after that, kill the only witness by throwing barrels at him and return home to the jungle telling "I was just out to get some banana-pizza".

Now is that cheating or what?

Actually...

In that same shmup competition, when the game chosen was ZANAC (Nes version) I scored around 16 million (Assuring the 1st place), the 2nd place scored 15 million (And he sent his score in the last second) and the 3rd placed scored mere 3 million.

It was an absurd difference which really made me laugh, and I even expected someone acusing me of cheat, but this didn't happen

Thumbs up

Surely we're all old enough to be past the "cheater" phase. If it's possible give it a go!

New High Score Forum

I was talking with someone about the high score 'idea' that's been floating around.

The suggested idea was to have a new forum specifically for the high scores with a new thread for each game.

There should also be a sticky thread with the top 5 scores for each game.

It was suggested that it might require a new mod for the forum because it would involve a lot of scouring through the threads (depending on how much participation there is) and updating the sticky thread.

Just a suggestion really, a few questions need to asked first, would RCK be willing to set it up, is there enough space to have another forum, is there need for a new mod, who would it be etc. etc. etc.

Just an idea that I thought would work rather well.

The pinball games (dreams/fantasies/illusions/slamtilt) should all be included as they are great for this type of thing.

http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?...ght=high+score

I was just waiting for RCK's return before suggesting the idea

You were neither cowardly or malicious after I posted a thread in completely the wrong place, when I should have posted back at
