Hmmm, I wonder if there are any games that get messed up by the memory speed. According to the developer's website, some games don't like the FPU but you can turn that off.

The fpu was never a problem; yet.
But there are a few whdload\slave combos that get messed up by the furia memory access/speed. (JST installs became a good option here or a native dos install if possible)

Here is 1 example for odd behavior ._.Simon the Sorcerer WHD :
When it creates new savegames and exit to WB, the OS gets corrupted and a freeze will come soon or later. (if EXISTING savegames get overritten, this will not happen)

There are more examples but i am writing with a PS4 joypad right now so..... (T_T)

A try for Delight-Overdose fix.

Any subsequent changes should be simple, so I can attempt others methods
(I've totally modified startup code / irq handler and some check)

Please test.

Bye,
ross

Welcome back Ross

Ahhh what a beautiful Demo. Sadly, a tricky one
I tried the demo in 3 different ways ...

1) Coldstart with floppy already inserted. > Worked but crashed right at the end; resets the Machine and the Demo starts all over again .. Nice loop feature right there

2) From Workbench > Crashed around 4:30 (black screen + noise)
[ Show youtube player ]

3) From WB with NOFAstMEm + NoCache > Crash at the same spot as it almost always did

What a tricky beautiful demo

Really beautiful!
Very tight with the timing, even move part of the code, racing the beam in slightly different position, can give some glitch.
The original occasionally crashes also for me (in various WinUAE configs), the init routine can fail..

So it works from start to end? (about 8:30min of show)
The final reset is voluntary..

Working from WB is untested, but a bad crash is not good

mmh.. strange, NOFAstMEm + NoCache is the default behavior.

But i'm more interested on point 1).
If works everytime i'm quite satisfied (then point 2) and 3)).

Bye!

Hi Ross.

I did a few more tests. The results are not always the same. The chance is higher now that it survives the part at the 6:05 mark. (when it changes from the Plasma to those strange copper parts)

( love plasmas and copper magic stuff )

Dont know if you have the time right now for a "Overdose by Delight" but it would be really nice to have this demo

Anyway, greeeeetings

? Who are you taking to boy ? Yourself ?

Anyway. I did more testing on Overdose by delight. With TUDE DEGRADE and TUDE NOFASTMEM the demo ran a few times complete but not always, sadly.

Dawm , this part at 6:05 is the really tricky

Ok, a total rework, this demo deserve it.
There inside some little and not so little bug (potential copper_wait/blitter crash, maybe Furia trigger it) and some 'daredevil' init.

Now:
- cache compatible (020+)
- all effects 50fps
- loop mode
- effects skippable with left button

Please test.

Bye,
ross

Beautiful Work Ross

It plays now without any problems AND you even made a LOOP FEATURE

Dear Ross, thats awesome !!!

Only thing left to do would be for StingRay to adapt the new version to the old WHDload Slave ... but Sting Ray is VERY Busy as is ; and honestly, who wants to quit this astonishing Demo anyway?

Thank You Ross

I decided to give it one more try. I ordered a CF to SD card adapter along with a Sandisk Ultra 16GB 80m/s SD card and it works! I now have Classic Workbench ADVSP installed on a PFS partition and all is working fine.

I have noticed another strange issue with the Furia though. I have a Gotek running the Cortex firmware and it always freezes trying to load the selector.adf with the Furia installed. If I remove the Furia, it works fine. Also, if I boot into Classic Workbench I can access ADF's on the Gotek without any problems, it just seems to be when booting from the Gotek.

great news though, it just needs a very good CF card, PFS3, and away you go.
