Basically you can turn off such warnings, but I would say it's dangerous to ignore such stuff. I don't care much about S.M.A.R.T. but IF you already get warnings, better swap the drive.

yeh, but you can monitor the smart info from the OS (and even run selftests then) - which is more useful than having a remote machine wait for a keypress
My question was more regarding his specific machine, as I'm not sure if all bios's allow this or not,. my fileserver here does (and it is switched off - and monitored from linux, along with disk temps - if a drive reaches a certain temperature, the machine shuts down, as it likely means one of the sata backplane fan failures). Agree about replacing the disk though if it thinks it's near End of Life. |

Thanks for the effort in bringing it back to life RCK I've really missed it... funny how we (well, I, at least) take site like this for granted!
And well done to Akira for keeping people up to date using the Facebook page, that was helpful too. Finally, can anyone access the mobile version of the site? On my phone it keeps redirecting me to irc.abime.net and then telling me it can't find the page. |

Yeah, because my personal circumstances have changed I decided to stay, but I'm glad for Akira and the other Admin (who's EAB name I don't know) for keeping the page alive... It has become quite popular since their arrival

And LO, on the third day, he was risen.
Happy Easter and welcome back EAB. Would it be out of place for me to suggest something like a kickstarter campaign to build a backup server for EAB or of funding data back up to a different location. I'm sure the powers that be have this stuff under control but it would be terrible if some accident caused the loss of the EAB and associated stuff. Seemingly aminet was nearly lost forever by a hard disc failure once upon a time. |

1- I know the problem and let a keyboard connected on the server so I can ask at netcenter guys to simply "press space bar" to let the server boot 2- Last uptime since this reboot was 253 days So don't worry Quote:
