Yes they are unless you create a 'winuae.ini' file.

Just create an empty file with the name in the same folder as Winuae.exe and start WinUAE. Afterwards look at the file

That was too easy to find for me
I wonder how many 'hidden' features are left for me then

I just created a winuae.ini since I prefer the settings to be stored locally too (thanks for the tip), and guess what...

Didn't change the ROMs path, didn't click Rescan ROMs either and both ROM are stored there.

By creating the WinUAE.ini you have an individual setup for that exe, so you start from 'scratch'. Now what does that prove? Nothing. You talked nonsense, just admit that

May be you ignore the default.uae 'hidden' feature.

TCD pulled out that one too, with Toni.
Save your preferred config as default.uae
and it will be loaded (not just highlighted) each time you start the GUI.

- If a configuration named "default" exists in your Configurations directory,
it will automatically be loaded when launching WinUAE. Save your favorite
"default" configuration, and from then on just double-click on WinUAE and
then hit Enter (or click OK) to start the emulation.

About winuae.ini, a word of caution :
"This is an unsupported file.
Compatibility between versions is not guaranteed.
Incompatible ini-files may be re-created from scratch !"

I suppose it implies make backups of your .ini files

That part about winuae.ini being an unsupported file is in the beginning of the file itself, once it has been updated by WinUAE of course.

Should this "info" be displayed at startup, like the beta warning ?

the default.uae i knew already.

If the .ini is recreated then it means something has changed,
you have to check it, backup or not
that's how i understand that
