Sorry, you did say that already :O
Mine is similar, but I do see 000 on the display although there are other files on the USB stick.
It’s in the bin already expensive crap. I don’t like things that ‘hang in the balance” like that.
Will have to spring for a HxC drive.

That's good to know.

I have had the offer a usb stick that has been in use from supaduper, who has just posted it out to me. I'll give that a go and see what happens. I will also have another 3 sticks on their way to me over the next week.

If none of these work then I could be in touch if that's ok with you?

A big thanks to all on here who have offer help. In particular supaduper and cpiac64.

Goes to show what a friendly bunch Amiga users are.

Further update.

Fitted 3.1 Rom to my a500+ and tried all the sticks again but no change still only ---

Tried a brand new sandisk cruzer 8gb just with selector.adf on it but no change still --- on display.

Tomorrow I should have a known working stick to try and possibly two other new ones. Here's hoping, but it sounds increasingly like the Gotek is the cause.

Hope kipper2k a508ide arrives soon!

It will be very unlikely that all those Drives would not work,So it looks the Gotek then . unless the one I sent works

I wouldn’t be surprised if the four on the desk are all the same chip branded LCO.

You could well be right.

Of the 6 tried so far two are sandisk (cruzer blade 8gb and cruzer crossfire 2gb) the others are no name ones.

I should have a known good arriving today from supaduper and I am also expecting a kingston 8gb (as recommended by the ebay Gotek seller) and another sandisk that has been posted on here as being both working great and not working at all with gotek!

Tested with the sandisk stick that supaduper kindly sent me. Same response just ---. Given the stick is working in his Gotek I have come to the conclusion that the Gotek is at fault.

Supaduper has offered to re program it for me so I may well be taking him up on the offer!

I Big thanks to supaduper for this.

He fitted and sent me a replacement board. Which saved a lot of aggro with ebay seller no doubt.

Connecting the cable the wrong way should've been the first hint as to why its not working
These devices are dirt cheap & most likely dont have protection for such things.
For example, if you connect the power plug the wrong way (switch between 5V and 12V) your USB stick will fry.

Still, they're worth every $.
I'm using 3 of them without issues for nearly a year now, all were 20$ shipped.

From my reading of the use of gotek gives getting the floppy data cable the wrong way up will not cause any harm. It's the power cable that needs to be correct to prevent damage.

I think the issue here was a faulty resistor not a blown one .
