@duga / lost loven
In regards to SLOWMEM in the trapdoor slot. If the SLOW memory is asserted in the RANGER area of memory than this will most likely work with the adapter. However this extra 1.8MB (max) area of memory will be 5 times slower to access - it would be best to remove / disable it once installed with one of Kips K504/K508 adapters If the SLOW memory is not in RANGER area of memory then this will conflict with the FAST ram adapter. but as SLOW memory is nearly 5 times slower than CPU FAST RAM, its best to get shot of it. In regards to Mika's 68KIDE, while I believe it will work, no one has tested it 100% |

Doesn't the 1 meg chip ram depend on the trap door slow mem? If removed I don't want to have 512k chip. (I did the 1 meg hack for the rev 5 board) So then one would hope it works with it then.

Hello lost_loven
Quote:
CHIP ram (upto 2MB pending on Agnus version) is asserted (setup) outside of the 8MB FAST RAM memory area. The A500 has many memory areas dedicated to certain things, it has 24bits of address space to hold everything in (16MB). The first 8MB is reserved for things like CHIP ROM, KICK ROM and RANGER memory locations, essentially leaving 8MB of SPACE for anything else - like CPU FAST RAM adapters. When you use SLOW memory, that is not CHIP RAM ( 2MB ) or set in RANGER memory area (1.8MB) then you start to use the other 8MB of memory that is used for FAST RAM. to sum up, with an A500 you can have an 8MB FAST adapter, 2MB of CHIP RAM, and 1.8MB of RANGER (SLOW) Memory. |

Just thought i'd mention that the RAM in both the A500 and A600 boards are New (old stock) infineon Ram chips that were still in unopened packaging rated at 60ns. Unless i specify otherwise i will use these until i run out and then use the refurbished chips i also bought

Will you serve the orders as interest were given in this thread? Or is First ordered, First served from when you say it's time to order?

Hi, i will use this thread as the primary list for peoples declaration of interest based on time posted. Once i post on Amibay as well, i will process orders chronologically. I do intend on making enough to satisfy demand but i will only order in small batches as per usual so i don't get stuck with too many parts |

@Kipper2k
Any plans for A500 8MB RAM board with IDE controller? Is the RAM autoconfig? (Wishful thinking) I know Jens will have one available but it's only with 2MB, 8 would be better. Thanks |

I'm also quite interested in IDE for A500. There's no hurry, of course, but it would be nice to know how you plan to make that one. Will it be some kind of add on for this expansion? Or a standalone gadget? Or a totally new RAM expansion with IDE?

it would be a case of simply adding the controller, header and lines to the board, mabbe redesign a little bit to save space. there is room under the board that can be used too to reduce the orerall size of the board. You would need the custom 1.3 rom as well. |

Sorry, still a bit unclear
![]() Do you mean it will be a new, redesigned expansion board, with RAM and IDE ? And, it wont work at all with regular 1.3, or it will but it just wont be bootable (can boot with floppy and see HD drives) ? |

k, same board as such, just adding the IDE portion (ram will still be on board) and to use the ide functions you must use a 1.3 kickstart rom that has been modified to support ide functions (if i am wrong someone please correct me). Ram will still be functional even if you only use a regular kickstart rom
