The -12 Volt are still available in the Power connector of the Powersupply which is connected normaly to the Amiga !

There is only NO bridged -12 V wire on the mainboard because a PPC card
does not need a high quality -12 Volt connection.

@Hacky:
That's a super amiga there! All the gear fitted inside the desktop case, just great. Makes my towered miggy feel ashamed. Thanks for the heatsink-fancooler tip, that's the only thing holding back my 99% finished tower project (cooling)

I think you think to much complicated.

Imagine:

You have a normal A1200 and normal Power Unit.
I only have a more pwerful power unit as my machine realy need at least a 100 watt unit and I have a 250 watt unit.

The only thing I did is:

I took the A1200 board out of the Desktop case and soldered 4 wires on the back of the board near the Power Input connector.

These wires end in a molex connector which has the total normal output of +12V,GND,GND and +5V. The molex can now pluged on a Floppy molex Connector and then pluged to the Floppy connector on the A1200 board. The Floppy connector on the A1200 board is electrical very near to the expansion port.
So you have a very stable +12V and +5V at the expansion port and your PPC card will work fine all the time, even if you have a PPC240 and even if you have a 68040 (heater) installed on the PPC card.

Thats it.

Never built a bridge to the fan connector of the PPC card !
The fan connector of the PPC card is not the right place to be connected to an extra +5V connector !
It could damage the card.
I read this stupid hint in an other forum I think it was Amiga.org.

The PPC +5V fan connector is only a good place for measuring how much of the +5V is realy available to the PPC card.

Exactly, die PSU gives -12 Volts and all the other voltages.
The PSU is pluged into the A1200 board.

So why should there be no -12 volts available ?

I have a PSU with all these voltages and with exact the normal
Amiga 500/500/1200 connector you posted.

Anyway I thing if I had no -12 volts (but I have them) it is only
a problem for the serial port which needs -12 volt ...

that is what I am asking from the beginning...

He has an external PSU with the original power cable from the brick PSU attached, as well as the molex connector shown in his pictures. At least that is how I understand it.

Another problem with having a computer without -12v is that the sound will be terrible. The computer will boot and work without -12V connected, I did that for a couple of days with my A1200 around 1995 or so.

The four soldered wires are only for internal use.

So the Amiga looks nearly orginal connected with a "normal" PSU

Hell no it has only +12V G G 5V, you need the original power connector which connects on the board...

Also I don't understand why he didn't use AT powersupplies easier because they have huge plug. but also you can use ATX with a swith instead of what he made... only need to connect 2 cables to switch it on.... if I remember right green with ground is ATX powersupply on...
