When in doubt, hit it with a stick!

A method that humans have been using with some success, for quite some time. Why break the habit of an evolution

so what do we recon? is it zorro1, zorro2 or custom? i can't see that much control logic on my HD8+ to suggest anything else?

am itching to build a slot for a zorro2 card, just don't want anything to go bang!

but with GVP's history of 64pin simms instead of standard 72pins, or the custom modules that went into the 530, i wouldn't rule out something completely proprietary...

Zorro I and Zorro II are electrically compatible, but the cards are just a different form factor. I doubt there were any commercially available Zorro I expansion boards, only reference designs.

So it's probably a Zorro slot with a different connector..

Why not take the Amigabus and Zorro II pinouts in one hand and a multimeter in the other and start tracing the signals to the edge connector.

I'm pretty sure that GVP made that slot a propreitary one and was planning on or had indeed released some PC compatible cards, like a 386/486 cpu board of some kinds...

Yes indeed, take a look at this snippet from the Big Book of Amiga Hardware:

Quote:
"The GVP 530 also has a connector for attaching an optional 286 PC emulator."
And this is the description

well, the power points seem to line up, just a case of growing the ballskis to connect a z2 card to it....

18yr+ old hardware, don't fail me now!
