Tried the last official versions (before your new fixes) of both JSW2 and Manic Miner and both games run at normal speed. The only faster thing is the Credits/Intro screen of Manic Miner (with small Miner Willy on the bottom) - that is running faster than normal. Actual games are both perfect speed on plain old A1200 with 2Mb chip and nothing else.

Does the Manic Miner installer actually access the Disk or is that down to faster CPU configs like A1200 stopping the installer reading the disk?

Just tried the updated JSW2 installer from The Zone with the official JSW2 IPF #1115 and while it installs and runs under my WinUAE A1200 config, it sticks on 'The saga continues...' text? No key presses or joystick Fire gets past this text, pressing F1 also does nothing but F10 will quit back to Workbench!

Also tried NoMMU, NoAutoVec, NoCache and NoVBRMove without success!

It's waiting for a button press there. It uses WHDLoad's Delay() function so it should continute after 5s even if you don't press anything.

It doesn't need the floppy after it's been installed to hard disk, if that's what you mean.

It does read files from the hard disk during play, but if you have PRELOAD set then WHDLoad will provide them from a RAM cache instead which will be pretty much instant-load.

Then something is not right as pressing '5' on the numpad (Joystick Fire) does nothing and waiting also does nothing! Using Keyboard layout A in the Game ports section of WinUAE! Did try the DebugKey=$46 (DEL) option to create a coredump but it doesn't seem to work, not sure if vblank is enabled as per the WHDLoad info on DebugKey!

When I tried the Manic Miner Installer it never asked for the floppy disk and completed the install and created an icon that ran the game without installing it from the floppy disk! The GUI file was renamed to 'Manic Miner' and that is the file which runs! Also, when the installer finishes it says 'Jet Set Willy II can be found in your <folder> drawer or partition'.

The speed issues I'm seeing seem to be only on FSUAE, so that's a false alarm there. On a real A500/030 and on WinUAE the game runs fine.

Wierdly, this only happens on WinUAE I have a fix now though.

Not even going to try to figure that out. We'll see how the updated installer goes.

Hi,

I tested Your Slave B4 on my A500 ACA500Plus 68000 @7Mhz and @ 28 Mhz.

In the game the speed and the sound are FULL OK @7 & @28 MHZ

In comparison, I tested the IPF File converted in HFEv3 in my Gotek Drive with A500 Menu KS 1.3 512+512 @7 & @28 too ... the speed is the same as WHDLoad installation.

The Timer count correctly about speed and the Cosmonaut run at the same speed.

In the WHDLoad install on the menu is a little slower in terms of movement

On my A1200 GVP A1230 Turbo+II 68030 @ 40 MHZ

in WHDLoad all seems to be OK (about menu and in the game too).

Best Regards,

Pascal

heh you're fast

New JSW2 B5 in the Zone. I removed all the "wait fix" patches I'd put in to make it behave on my FSUAE. Seems fine on WinUAE and A500/030-50.

Yes...

All my install are made under WINUAE 5 ... after a Quick test under WinUAE I always transfert the installation on a CF card to test on my real A500 & A1200.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Youfor integrating my icon into your installation.About The icons it now easy to create a GlowIcon,

I Use : https://www.stef.be/dpaint/

and You only need to reduce the piture size and to limit the colors to 256 colors

Best regards,

Pascal

I'm on macOS, so I have to run an emulator (vmware) to run the emulator (WinUAE) so normally I just use the emulator (FSUAE)

Still not working in WinUAE, gets to the menu now but starting Jet Set Willy II just shows a black screen and can't select the Mani Miner Demo? Tried under a WB3.0 WinUAE and the game threw up a recovervable alert then loaded the game but same issue, black screen when starting the game?

It works fine on WinUAE 5.2.0 A1200/030 and real A500/030 here. The select screen skipping the middle option (it isn't, it's just stepping over it really fast!) is what happens in my FSUAE FWIW. It might be something in your WinUAE version or setup but I couldn't guess what.

Yeah, it's a head scratcher as all other WHDLoad installs i've got are working fine!

What ROM are you using as mine is 3.1 in my A1200 config!

@girv

Hi,

Sorry to report that but I think BarryB has right, For Manic Miner

about the install all seems to works correctly till the end

But when I click on the Icon to start the game, after WHDLoad Slave Option Screen, I obtain a Black Screen too

You can See Down in the border of the screen in the right HALT3 near POWER.

Nothing happen after that and I need to Quit WINUAE

WINUAE 5.3 64 Bits OS3.5 @68030

I add my WINUAE config

I will add in the zone the Result of Your Beta Installation From SPS IPF File

Best regards,

Pascal

24-bit addressing is a bit strange for an 030, and I also have MMU enabled. Maybe try NOCACHE? Without MMU I'm not sure what WHDLoad does with chipram.

It does work on my A500/030
