I think there was a lot more C64 cracking scene than Amiga. I would like to compare those two!
I don't remember any Amiga-centric BBSs down here in Argentina or Brazil. I bet none existed. |

I disagree. Although the scene presence is all but non-existent, the Amiga was very successful for some time in the US (at least in the 80s). I think it's the relative density of the population of the UK or Europe that makes it seem like there were more Amigas around.

I meant in the United States, not Amiga vs. C64, rather US Amiga vs. EU Amiga

@galahad: Er forgot about the blue boxing thing, Really didn't expect that to play such a big part.
How much more was the cost of hard drives and modems in Europe compared to the US? an extra 10%? |

Those in the know embraced it for its technical abilities, hence the likes of NewTek. But for games, it didn't enter into the American subconcious. |

One of the most famous crackers on the C64 is american. Mitch / ESI (Eagle Soft Incorporated).
North East Crackers/Importers were also pretty big and had some real cracking intros, no pun intended. :P Check out Final Fight or Chase HQ II. |

There was a much bigger US/Ntsc scene on c64 than there was on Amiga... Excluding sysops, there was only a handful of suppliers and even less crackers (can anyone name even 5 total?) active who were based in the States during the peak of the amiga scene days
