Though Jay Miner himself was against the idea of a computer that is hard to expand and doesn't approve commodore's decision by creating the A500, I have to say, A500 is the model responsible of Amiga's success.

Speaking of the best looking computer, I agree with Ian about the CDTV. I never thought A500 looked good at all. It occupies too much space and is quite cumbersome to use with a tv modulator.

Since the A500 and A1200 are running neck and neck I'll bring this thread back to life for the new members to decide a clear winner.

For me the best thing about the Amiga was the Desktop design like so many models before it - C-64, MSX, Speccy, Amstrad CPC, Vic-20, even the inferior Atari ST etc.

I've made my feelings clear before about what I think of towering my beloved A1200. Let's just say it horrifies me.

So, with this reasoning, that's the A3000, A1000, A2000/A1500 and all the other big box designs out.

Hmmm. That leaves the A500, A500P, A600, A1200, CD32 and CDTV.

It'll have to be the original A500 for me. The best looking computer of all time and the model that placed a great technological design firmly on the map.

So, which one's the DADDY Amiga for you?
I say A4000 or A4000T, these machines can be expanded the most, you can even have two video slot type cards in a A4000T like a Video Toaster and Picasso IV.

I'd go for the cd32. It's the only Amiga 100% compatible with cd32 games, it runs cdtv, most Amiga programs including OS 3.9, it boots for audio cds, ect.

It's not the best for networking, gfx or expandability, but in my opinion the best part about the Amiga was the classic software.

A1000 was definately the grand daddy. The A500 was like it's sleeker, better dressed cousin from the south.
