It would not surprise me if all the tables are bugged. most people are aware of the buggy nature of this game yet still wanted to play it.

bit disappointed Stones & Bones wasn't included, as that's my favourite table and scores in the 100's of millions was quite frequent for me

I have noticed however that the latest AGA WHDLoad version has a bug where the ball will get stuck in the Vault on the bottom left side. Is that the reason for leaving this table out?

I'll have a play on the other three tables today and see if i'm worthy of a score posting

I can't seem to get a 100% working WHDLoad version of PF

WHDLoad v17.1.5206

ECS version fails to reach the table menu. Music plays but black screen after intro images.

AGA Versions the ball gets stuck in holding places such as the Vault on Stones and Bones. Every table requires me to TILT to release the ball, and then lose it for tilting.

Is it worth me downgrading WHDLoad? I dont recall have these probs in v16

@ diablothe2nd - I'm using the whds from whdownload.com; which I presume is the same as the one linked in the first post. WinUAE 2.6.1, A1200 020 setup, cycle exact=on + set to A500 7mhz speed, whdload 16.2 for OCS/ECS version, 17.1 for AGA. No issues here.

hmmmm i'm using my real miggy, 1200 BPPC @50/330mhz (clocked it down and haven't bothered to swap oscillators back to 66) 256mb ram @60ns (never had trouble at this speed) SCSI HD, AmigaSYS4/OS3.9 BB1

having to run the chip version of AGA as the other refuses to boot as i have fastmem??? weird but true.

latest 060 libs from ph5 site. not installed anything for the ppc yet (on the to do list)

can't think of anything else that could be causing the prob.

you didn't state your WHDLoad version. is it less than 17.1? EDIT - oh wait yes you did, it's version 16.... which is kinda adding credence to my hypothesis that v17 is the problem. EDIT to your edit. hmm 17.1 for aga huh? well i'm stumped then

UPDATE - got it working by disabling my BPPC with the A key (for ALL), booting with multikickstart, then with PF ECS floppies. what a pain! but at least i can play.

if anyone can think of ideas for getting the whdload working thatd be great cos this is a pita

diablothe2nd,

Did you try setting the NOCACHE option in tooltypes for the WHDLoad game icon? I don't know if that works in your hardware setup, but worth a try.

@ Capehorn - Someone has found a working crack over on Lemon. Is there any way to get this linked and posted as an official update to the rules?

There's a bug on Billion Dollar Gameshow table in the adf version linked in first post. I lost a ball when I had Moneymania activated and couldn't play the next ball. Repeated this few times on purpose, always with the same result: messed up score and no ball to play.

Does anyone have any tips for Speed Devils? I struggle to get close to 5 million most plays. On one occasion (pictured below) I managed to get just over 10 million. The other tables are much easier, though the ADF's I downloaded on Sunday are majorly buggy:

- take out a disk and the drive head for the drive moves 1 track a second all the way to track 83, and presumably tries to continue on

- I have had Billion Dollar Gameshow crash on me mid-play

- Billion Dollar Gameshow and Speed Devils tables have corrupt graphics on the loading screen a few seconds before the table actually appears

- all tables sometimes fail to detect key releases (e.g. when using down cursor to release the ball into play)

- if using one drive only, the game fails to detect disk 1 on re-insertion (I use drive 0 for disk 1 and drive 2 for the table disks (disk 2 & 3)).

Other than that, it's been pretty fun

Tips?? On Speed Devils the tip is to go for the ramps and then go up the centre so the ball travels all the way back to the PIT lights. Then get all the lights which spell Burnin. Then hit the Offroad ramp. This should highlight the word GEAR on the table. When you get the GEAR, shoot the Right ramp and you'll overtake a car and move up in position in the race, then repeat.

This all comes from the manual, it is essential reading to understand the tables:

Did you also read the manual before playing a pinball machine in a bar while sipping beer?

speed devils is definitely a harder one to get score on. my best so far is 40 million.

when you launch the ball, use the third flipper to send it back around. when all PIT lights are lit, you then use the third flipper to send the ball up the offroad ramp. this triggers the multiply bonus. you can't keep lighting the pit lights to get more than one bonus you have to run off road each time.

like lifeschool said, you have to illuminate the burnin lights

it's quite difficult to chain alternating chute runs, especially reaching the left one from the right flipper. what i do to get milage is keep going around the right one, holding the right flipper up to pass the ball to the left one then using the left flipper to send it back up the right chute.

it's a pain getting the burning lights. just keep the ball up and dont try anything fancy and it'll happen anyway without trying too hard.

dont worry too much about getting back to the pit for more bonus multiplier as it doesn't get you much when you lose the ball, and resets anyway on the next ball. if you end up in the pit, sure get the bonus but i dont bother aiming for it.

No, I never never saw the attraction of pinball. Thats why I'm no good at this game. But we are not talking about real tables here, we are assuming everybody has the Amiga version, which came with a manual. The programmers intended folks to use it - so why not use it?
