I really like my Dopus 5.5 config and im using it for years. I dont want to go back to Opus4 for just the long filename reason. Is there any way to update 5.5 to the latest 5.82 version?
Ah hehe ok. I remember I didn't like the first 5.xx versions of Opus because they all lacked some things I needed, the first one I really liked was the 5.82 version and that one I still use. Some patches can be found here: http://aminet.net/search?query=directory+opus maybe there's one you can use.

Hi MarlboroMan, the way I see it you have limited options as the Amiga version of DOpus was sold to GuruMeditation, GPSoftware don't have anything to do with it.

In a nutshell:
  • You're right there is no freeride, 5.6 (the original Magellan) -> 5.8 (Magellan II)was always a paid upgrade
  • A trial version of Opus Magellan II (5.82) is included with Amikit (better than nothing)
  • SoftwareHut appear to still sell it, there are probably other vendors
  • Google will find you an "extended trial version" if you ask it nicely (not that I endorse that sort of thing)
  • It's a damn shame you didn't want it a week earlier, here's why

Thats no porblem anymore. A kind boardmember sent me a "extended trial version" When i feel like i will look for it on ebay as its a really good piece of software and a printed manual wouldnt be bad.

I still and always have used SID2

I wish someone could obtain the source from Timm? it needs to be patched for higher resolutions as well as ignoring wierd characters

DirOpus and alike moved away from simple lightweight filemanagers to make your coffee and take out the trash... STUpid in my option
