Why are the league scores different for this game?

Graham could explain it better, but since last year a new dynamic scoring system was voted in where league points are calculated based on performance (to a degree). The points are closer at this stage because there is not much separation in scores.

Game completed, time 25:29, score 132.529.

Did a few mistakes, needed 3 tries for the defending guard at level 8, 3 tries for "the" jump through the cutter at level 10, and 2 tries for Jaffar.

I'm having difficulties working out how to get to the exit in level 4 once the door is open! The way back is blocked by a mirror and the way forward (climb up) hasn't been opened yet!

Level 4, 30 minutes left (I made it to start of level 3 with 54 minutes left, but lost 20 minutes trying to work out how to beat the skeleton at the end of the level)

Score: 43,000

Jump through the mirror while running. And then get a surprise (But that's the right way to do it, just come running and jump).

I find amazing that old-timer gamers didn't play Prince of Persia properly back at the time and don't know this stuff. Nothing against you guys, it's just that this is such a HUGE classic, I am surprised people didn't play it more

Harry, your time is pretty good. I died less times than you on that run and still didn't beat your time.

With that fat guard, I found it easier to just counter one attack, move past him, put your sword away and keep running
Thank about that, Ed .. I now do it on the fat guy, and also in a few other battles too... switch sides with enemies is really useful in a lot of spots

Game completed, 26:50 left, score 132.650.

I died on top of level 12 with the 26:43 time, and with the current best time I died one time at the first guard of level 8. I guess 28:00 is possible if you do not take that much time with the fights and make no mistakes.

Are you getting all the "raise max energy" potions? Skipping some of them also would give you some extra time.

Usually, I took the potions in levels 2 and 4, but I made this run with only the potion in level 2. However, I am unsure if it is worthwhile, because you pay with more careful sword fights in the later levels.

I think I cannot better this score.

Game completed, time 27:32, score 132.732.

I checked a longplay on youtube and one thing striked me.

On the video, not only the game was slightly faster than on my A600, it also had zero slowdowns. On my A600, the game slowdowns a lot on certain screens. This happened in either NTSC or PAL versions WHDLoad versions, and also on the ADF version which was the first one I tried out.

Does the game runs faster/has no slowdowns on acelerated machines? And mostly, does the clock also slows down on those sections in a 68k machine?

Because if the game gets slower but the clock doesn't, playing on a 68k machines gives me a bit of disadvantage.

Level 4, 9 minutes left

Score: 40,900

Can't recall when I have been swearing so much! Found about 10000 different ways to die on level 2. Played DOS-version a few times in the early 90's, but never before on Amiga. Had vague memories of first levels. This may have been last time ever I play this game on any platform. Great game but nearly as frustrating as China Miner on Commodore 64. If I try this again I might lost totally my nerves

Under winuae + whdload/nocache & cycle exact, there are lots of slowdowns - especially in the later levels with lots of falling platforms. The clock also slows down so is nothing to worry about.

I've had a few more attempts but is getting frustrating now - since Harry post such a good time I tend to quit when one mistake is made

So I made 2 minor mistakes which cost maybe 30 seconds.
Then on the final level I died just prior to the mirror fight, and had to climb the damn tower again!!

At least now I know how close to perfect your time is Harry (very close )

I looked at a speedrun on youtube, and the guy was jumping all the time, so I tried that too, and after two dozen tries there is my new shiny score: 132.945 with time 29:45.

Harry, I thought you were already doing that
Did you collect any big potions this time?

Yes, on 2 and 4 this time. Omitting the big potion on 4 saves only about 20 seconds for the moment, but you dont need to be that careful with your fights in the later levels when you get an additional hit point.
